Carnival Valor (built in 2004, last refurbished in May-June 2025, Fun Ship 2.0 refurbishment in 2016) is the third of five Conquest-class Carnival cruise ships, alongside Conquest, Freedom, Glory, and Liberty.

The Carnival Valor deck plan features a total of 1,492 staterooms for 2,984 passengers (maximum capacity 3,581), served by 1,150 crew members. The ship has 13 passenger decks (8 with cabins), 22 lounges and bars, 4 swimming pools (one with a retractable glass roof), 7 outdoor Jacuzzis (large whirlpool tubs), and 18 elevators.

Passenger cabin decks offer a total of 54 Suites, 521 Balcony cabins, 340 Oceanview cabins, and 577 Inside cabins. Self-service laundromats (launderettes) are available on all cabin decks. Laundry use is charged at $3.25 per washer or dryer load and $1.50 per detergent/softener box (dispensed from vending machines). Launderettes are open from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 midnight and are equipped with 2–3 washers, 2–3 dryers, and one ironing board with iron. Machines accept coins only and cannot be operated with Sail & Sign cards. When the ship is in port, washers are unavailable, but dryers and irons remain operational. Valet laundry service is available through the cabin steward, with wash-and-press prices ranging from $2 to $7.50 and dry-cleaning from $3 to $10.50 per item.

Carnival Valor Deck Plan Changes / Refurbishments Review

Drydock 2025

The 2025 drydock (May-June), conducted at Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz, Spain, included the following upgrades:

A Carnival WaterWorks aquapark was added to the top decks, featuring twin racing waterslides and splash zones.

The Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge was introduced on Deck 5, honoring active-duty U.S. service members and veterans.

Accessibility was improved throughout public areas by widening pathways and modernizing most facilities.

All staterooms were upgraded with additional USB charging outlets and LED lighting.

The Casino was expanded and fully renovated with new gaming machines and an enhanced layout.

The wellness center, including the spa and gym, was rebranded as the Cloud 9 Spa.

A Dream Studio was added on Deck 3 for personalized photo shoots.

A Carnival Adventures desk was installed on Deck 5 for shore excursion information and bookings.

Children’s areas were upgraded: Camp Ocean was renovated and now features the fleet's first LED wall with interactive programming and multiplayer games. Teen venues Circle C and Club O2 were updated with new gaming and karaoke options.

General renovations throughout the ship included new carpeting and hotel maintenance updates.

Drydock 2016

The April 23 – May 7, 2016 drydock, held in Freeport (Bahamas), introduced the following Fun Ship 2.0 upgrades:

  • New eateries and poolside bars were added to Lido Deck 9: Guy’s Burger Joint (replacing the starboard-side Grille), BlueIguana Cantina (replacing the portside Grille), RedFrog Rum Bar (poolside, starboard), and BlueIguana Tequila Bar (poolside, portside).
  • On Promenade Deck 5, Cherry on Top candy shop replaced the Formalities shop. New bars added to Deck 5 included SkyBox Sports Bar (replacing the Bronx Bar, portside), Alchemy Bar (replacing Jeanne’s Wine Bar), and RedFrog Pub (utilizing part of the Club O2 lounge space, portside).

Additional upgrades included various technical enhancements such as shoreside power capabilities and routine maintenance, including new hull coating.

In Q1 2021 (February–April, dates TBA), Carnival Valor was scheduled for drydock at Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz, Spain, primarily for general maintenance.

The ship’s first drydock refurbishment occurred in 2008 (as part of "Fun Ship 1.0" / "Evolution of Fun"). A Mongolian Grill was added to the Lido restaurant, and a large LED screen was installed on the Lido Deck for outdoor movies and shows. The second drydock took place in 2011 (2-week project).

In 2011, enhancements included upgrades to the Serenity adults-only sundeck, the addition of six new scenic oceanview rooms and two new suites, and various hotel and public area improvements. Drydocks between 2014 and 2016 introduced Fun Ship 2.0 features such as new bars, lounges, dining, and entertainment venues.
