Carnival Splendor (built 2008, last refurbished in 2016 March / Fun Ship 2.0 refurbishment in 2019 November) is unique among Carnival cruise ships. The vessel has no sisters in the Carnival fleet as it belongs to the Concordia-class Costa ships – together with Concordia (sunk in 2012), Fascinosa, Favolosa, Pacifica and Serena.
Carnival Splendor cruise ship deck plan has a total of 1503 staterooms for 3002 passengers (max capacity is 3734 guests), served by 1150 crew/staff. The ship has 13 passenger decks, 24 lounges, and bars, 4 swimming pools, 7 jacuzzies, 18 elevators.
Carnival Splendor decks with passenger cabins have a total of 52 Suites, 537 Balconies, 368 Oceanviews, 556 Inside cabins, Self Service Laundromats (passenger use launderettes). Laundry facilities are at extra-charge – $3,25 (per washer or dryer load) and $1,5 per box (detergent/water softener, dispensed from the vending machine in the room). Launderettes (open between 6:30 am – 12 midnight) are located on all cabin decks. Each laundry room is equipped with 2-3 washers, 2-3 dryers, 1 ironing board/iron. All laundry machines accept coins only (can’t be operated using S&S cards). While the ship is in port, washing machines are closed (only dryers and irons can be used). Valet laundry service is handled through the cabin steward. Prices are per item – wash-and-press ($2 – $7,50) and dry-cleaning ($3 – $10,50).
Carnival Splendor deckplan changes 2019 refurbishment review
The ship's last drydock refurbishment was in 2019 (October 30 through November 24) done in Singapore (at Sembcorp Marine Shipyard). The USD 60 million drydocking project aimed to adapt the vessel for the Australian market as well as receiving Carnival's signature Fun Ship 2.0 upgrades.
The project included general maintenance works, technical overhauls, refreshed interior spaces, adding new dining venues and bars (RedFrog Pub, Alchemy Bar, Guy’s Burger Joint), Serenity Retreat (adults-only sundeck), redesigned waterpark (with a free-fall drop waterslide).
