Carnival Paradise (built in 1998, last refurbished in October 2023, with a Fun Ship 2.0 upgrade in 2018) is the eighth and final Fantasy-class Carnival cruise ship. Her sister ships include Elation, Fantasy, Imagination, and Inspiration, as well as the "balcony ships" Ecstasy, Fascination (now Century Harmony), and Sensation.

The Carnival Paradise deck plan shows a total of 1,061 staterooms for 2,124 passengers (max capacity 2,546), served by 920 crew members. The ship has 14 decks (11 accessible to passengers, 6 with cabins), 12 lounges and bars, 3 swimming pools, 7 Jacuzzis (large whirlpool hot tubs), and 14 elevators.

Passenger cabin decks on Carnival Paradise feature 54 Suites, 564 Oceanview cabins, 408 Interior cabins, and self-service launderettes. Laundry use is at extra cost – $3.25 per washer or dryer load, and $1.50 per detergent/water softener box (dispensed via vending machines). Laundromats (open from 6:30 am to midnight) are located on all cabin decks and equipped with 2–3 washers, 2–3 dryers, and 1 ironing board with iron. Machines accept coins only and cannot be operated with Sail & Sign cards. Washing machines are unavailable while the ship is in port (only dryers and irons may be used). Valet laundry service is also available via cabin stewards. Wash-and-press pricing ranges from $2 to $7.50 per item. Dry cleaning is not offered.

Carnival Paradise deck plan changes – 2018 refurbishment review

Deck plan upgrades during the ship’s 2018 drydock refurbishment (February 22 – March 25 at Freeport, Bahamas) included the following enhancements:

  • 38 new cabins were added: 2 Grand Vista Suites, 22 Junior Suites, 2 Scenic Oceanview cabins, and 12 Interior cabins. Balconies were added to 98 existing cabins on decks 5 (Main), 6 (Upper), and 7 (Empress), increasing the ship’s capacity from 2,052 (max 2,606) to 2,128 (max 2,554).
  • (Lido Deck 10) Guy’s Burger Joint was added — a complimentary poolside venue serving handcrafted burgers and fresh-cut fries.
  • (Lido Deck 10) BlueIguana Cantina was introduced — a complimentary Mexican eatery offering fresh burritos and tacos on homemade tortillas, with a salsa bar and various toppings. BlueIguana Tequila Bar was also added, offering frozen drinks and beers in a Mexican-themed outdoor setting.
  • (Promenade Deck 9) Alchemy Bar was added — Carnival’s signature “cocktail pharmacy” featuring professional mixologists and custom drinks. RedFrog Rum Bar was also introduced, serving frozen drinks and Carnival’s exclusive ThirstyFrog Red draft beer.
  • (Promenade Deck 9) Cherry On Top was added — a bulk candy store that also sells Carnival-branded apparel, gifts, and toys.
  • (Verandah Deck 11) The former Camp Carnival was redesigned into Camp Ocean — a play area for kids aged 2–11 with fun interiors and over 200 ocean-themed, science-based, and arts and crafts activities. Also added aft on this deck was the Carnival WaterWorks aqua park featuring a kids’ Splash Zone, two 82-ft mini racing slides, and a 300-ft Twister Waterslide.
  • (Deck 14) The 9-hole Mini-Golf Course was relocated and redesigned to include a bocce court.
  • The retail shops were completely redesigned and updated with brand boutiques including a Guess Store and Pandora Store. The Photo Gallery was replaced by a digital Pixels-brand platform.
  • Technical upgrades included shoreside power connectivity and routine maintenance, including new hull coating. Crew areas were also refurbished during this drydock.

In September–October 2021, Carnival Paradise underwent drydocking at Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz, Spain for general maintenance and technical updates, along with repainting in Carnival’s new livery.

The ship’s October 2023 drydock at Freeport's Grand Bahama Shipyard focused on routine maintenance and classification updates, as well as renovations to passenger staterooms and public areas. The Serenity Deck was renovated with a central Jacuzzi/hot tub. The Casino was expanded, the Piano Bar was refreshed, and all major public spaces received upgrades. In all staterooms, windows, tiling, and carpeting were replaced.
