Review of Kapitan M Izmaylov icebreaker
MS Kapitan M Izmaylov ("ледокол Капитан М Измайлов") is an icebreaking vessel owned and operated by Rosmorport. “Rosmorport” is a Russian FSUE (“Federal State Unitary Enterprise”) created in 2012 by the order of the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Transport.
One of the Russian icebreaker cruise ships, Kapitan M Izmaylov is accustomed to breaking ice and bring commercial ships during winter time in the port of Saint Petersburg.
In December 2012, the FSUE “Rosmorport” fleet of icebreakers started providing ice-breaking assistance to vessels in ice conditions in the Gulf of Finland. 15 icebreakers (of which 14 diesel-electric and 1 nuclear) were provided, including the Izmaylov. The ship provided assistance in Vyborg seaport.
From the start of winter navigation 2012-13, assistance for over 70 vessels was provided in the Russia's Baltic Sea ports Vyborg and Vysotsk (both in Leningrad Oblast) and the Big Port of St Petersburg.
Rosmorport's Kapitan M Izmaylov itinerary program includes ice-breaking works at the home-port Saint Petersburg (on Neva River, Gulf of Finland).
