HAL-Holland America Line announced a restart date of May 2022 for its ships ms Volendam and ms Zaandam.
The fleetmates ms Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Rotterdam, and Zuiderdam already returned to service or are scheduled to restart operations by November.
HAL will restart the two liners in May 2022, deploying Volendam in Northern Europe and Zaandam in Canada-New England. With the new start dates, the planned for 2022 "Grand World Voyage" and "Grand South America & Antarctica Voyage" are canceled and will resume in 2023.
When Volendam returns on May 1st, she will offer longer itineraries (14-35 days) to the Baltic, British Isles, Iceland, and Norway up to Nordkapp-North Cape and Spitsbergen Island (Svalbard), all roundtrip from Rotterdam Netherlands. Volendam will operate along the Iberian Peninsula to the Mediterranean as well as down to Africa (Egypt) and Israel.
MS Zaandam is scheduled to restart on May 12 in Canada-New England, with a relocation voyage (RepositionCruises.com) from Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale Florida) to Boston Massachusetts, followed by itineraries between Boston-Montreal (Quebec Canada). The vessel will offer the 35-day "Voyage of the Vikings" in July 2022 roundtrip from Boston to ports in Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Holland, England, Ireland.
When the Grand World Voyage departs on January 3, 2023, ms Zuiderdam will debut on the 128-day around-the-world cruise, offering passengers the chance to book a verandah stateroom for the first time. MS Volendam will return for her 74-day Grand South America & Antarctica Voyage that departs on January 3, 2023.
Guests booked on the 2022 Grand South America & Antarctica Voyage are automatically moved to the 2023 departure aboard ms Volendam. Guests booked on the 2022 Grand World Voyage aboard ms Zaandam are automatically moved to the 2023 Grand World Voyage aboard ms Zuiderdam.
With ms Zuiderdam embarking on the Grand World Voyage, ms Koningsdam will take on the ship's longer itineraries in 2023. The 25-day Mexican Riviera & Circle Hawaii Collectors' Voyage of Koningsdam will move from January 31, 2023, departure to January 7, 2023, for 24 days. In February 2023, the larger Pinnacle Class liner offers the 35-day Hawaii, Tahiti and Marquesas itinerary roundtrip from San Diego CA and all passengers booked for the departure aboard ms Zuiderdam will be moved to ms Koningsdam.
Zuiderdam's Panama Canal sailings in January & April 2023, as well as a 10-day Mexico and Sea of Cortez cruise, will be assumed by ms Zaandam.
