Norwegian Gem cabins and suites

NCL Gem’s cabins for disabled passengers (wheelchair-accessible staterooms) are available in the following categories (with deck placement): Penthouse Suite (SF – deck 9), Mini Suite (M1 – deck 11), Balcony (BB – deck 10, BC – deck 9), Oceanview (OK – deck 8), and Interior/Inside (IE – deck 4, IC – deck 11, I1 – decks 4, 8, 10, 11).

The following is a review of Norwegian Gem’s staterooms in terms of amenities, furnishings, and included (complimentary) services:

All staterooms feature a sleeping area (bedside tables, two lower beds convertible to a queen-size bed, plus additional/optional beds to accommodate extra passengers), an en-suite bathroom (toilet, sink, shower stall, bath products, hairdryer, towels), and a sitting area (wardrobe/ample closet space, vanity table, chair, smart HDTV with an infotainment system, electronic safe, life jackets in the closet, mini-refrigerator, direct-dial phone, and individual air-conditioning).

All Suites and Balcony cabins have floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening onto a private veranda furnished with a table and two chairs or sun loungers. Detailed cabin layouts are available on the NCL Gem cabin floor plans in the table above.

Suite accommodations include the following bonus amenities and perks: butler service, priority services (check-in, debarkation, tendering at ports of call, dining and show/spa reservations), in-room dining (plus evening treats), an upgraded room service menu, special invitations to private events, complimentary mini-bar and bottled water, luxury cotton robes, deluxe bedding (pillow-top mattresses, pillow menu, slippers, towels), walk-in closets, a cappuccino/espresso coffee maker, complimentary specialty restaurant dining (breakfast and lunch), and complimentary limousine service between pier and airport.

Guests booked in NCL Gem’s The Haven suites also enjoy exclusive access to The Haven Courtyard (private sun deck, pool and whirlpool, valet service, and a private fitness area).

• The Haven Garden Villas feature separate living and dining rooms, three bedrooms (one with a king bed; the other two with private bathrooms, rollaway beds, and cribs), a master bathroom (whirlpool bathtub and separate shower), and a media center (with DVD/CD player).
• The Haven Courtyard Penthouses include a master bedroom (queen bed), a smaller bedroom (with private bathroom and shower), a second bathroom (whirlpool bathtub and shower), and separate living and dining areas.
• The Haven Owner’s Suites (Deluxe Owner’s Suites) include a king-bed bedroom and separate living and dining rooms.
• Balcony Family Suites (Two-Bedroom Suites / Family Penthouses) offer a master bedroom (queen bed), a smaller bedroom with private bathroom and shower, a living room with dining area, and a bathroom with whirlpool bathtub and separate shower.
• SE–SF Penthouse Suites include combined sitting and sleeping areas (queen bed), a bathroom (bathtub and shower), and a minibar. Category SF Penthouses are aft-facing “Romance Suites,” while Category SE Penthouses are forward-facing suites with large balconies overlooking the bow. Balcony dividers are semi-private.
• Mini-Suites (Studio Suites) offer two lower beds convertible to a queen bed and a bathroom with bathtub and shower.

Balcony, Oceanview, and Inside cabins all feature two lower beds (convertible) and a bathroom with shower.

Most Oceanview categories have one Picture Window, except OF and OG, which feature Porthole Windows. Categories OK and OX have fully or partially obstructed views due to lifeboats.

IMPORTANT: Since May 2015, Norwegian Cruise Line has applied a US$7.95 room service charge fleetwide (including on Norwegian Gem). Only guests staying in The Haven suites are exempt. As an exception, all guests may order morning coffee and Continental Breakfast at no charge. Following the introduction of this service fee, NCL upgraded the room service menu, adding more hot breakfast items and expanding the 24-hour food and beverage selection.
