Deckplan Changes – 2019 Refurbishment Review
During the June 2019 drydock in Freeport, Bahamas, the ship received several upgrades, including the installation of the fleet's first-ever water park—Reef Splash Zone (no waterslides). Located aft-portside on Deck 17/Sports Deck, beneath the ramp to Skywalkers Nightclub (Deck 18), the redesigned Pirate’s View Pool area now features a large Splashpad with a splash pool, water cannons, sprays, showers, and an interactive whale-like structure with a “raining” fluke. The lounging area was updated with new furniture, including sectionals, loungers, garden couches with tables, and new finishes and fixtures. The pool, whirlpool, and Morgan’s Bar were also renovated.
The newly added Game Zone features oversized backyard games like Jenga, Cornhole, and Connect Four. At the family-friendly Morgan’s Bar, parents can enjoy mocktails and cocktails. The area includes comfortable sectionals, wind panels for protection, a Shade Canopy (aft-starboard) with canvas coverings, and upgraded lighting and sound systems for nighttime deck parties, stargazing, kids' programs, and themed events.
On Deck 16 forward, the Spa complex was renovated with new artwork and signage. Aft on Deck 16, the Camp Discovery Youth Center (for children ages 3-12) received an upgraded outdoor play area with an interactive water table for destination-themed activities.
Deckplan Changes – 2017 Refurbishment Review
The March 25–April 5, 2017 drydock in Freeport, Bahamas introduced the following changes:
- New kids’ area “Camp Discovery” added aft on Deck 17.
- “Movies Under the Stars” (MUTS) screen (850-seat outdoor theater) was upgraded.
- 87 additional pairs of interconnecting cabins were added for families.
- On Lido Deck 15, “Horizon Court” was replaced by “World Fresh Marketplace,” a new buffet restaurant with improved layout and food options including a 24-hour cereal station, designer pancakes, and themed hot cereals at breakfast; hand-crafted sandwiches and regional soups at lunch; comfort foods, a PB&J bar, and live cooking stations at dinner.
- Two new specialty restaurants replaced “Cafe Caribe”: “Planks BBQ” (USD 12 dinner fee) serves family-style meat platters with sides; “Steamers Seafood” (USD 12 dinner fee) offers regionally sourced seafood steamers. Both venues offer free buffet-style breakfast and lunch options.
- Deck 15’s pool area now has four outdoor dining options:
“The Salty Dog Grill” (formerly Trident Grill) offers gourmet burgers, tacos, fries, and hot dogs.
“Slice Pizzeria” (formerly Prego Pizzeria) serves Neapolitan-style pizzas, deep dish focaccia, and Stromboli.
“Coffee & Cones” (formerly Scoops Bar) offers gourmet ice cream sandwiches, free cones, specialty coffee and tea.
“THE MIX” (formerly Blackbeard’s Bar) was redesigned and updated as a poolside drinks bar.
- Specialty Italian restaurant “Sabatini’s” (formerly “SHARE by Curtis Stone”) on Promenade Deck 7 was redesigned with a new menu by celebrity chef Angelo Auriana. The updated offerings include antipasti and handmade pasta dishes using old-world grains and unique herbs. The new menu was rolled out fleetwide in 2017.
All staterooms received new “Princess Luxury Beds”—3,200 beds in total—featuring a pillow-top mattress, individually wrapped coils, and hypoallergenic duvets.
Carnival’s Ocean Medallion technology was installed in September 2018.
