Review of Estrella del Mar

Built in 1990, Estrella del Mar yacht is the newest addition to the Galapagos cruise company G Adventures. This modest, yet roomy ship offers accommodations for only 16 travelers.

History - construction & ownership

G Adventures (Former Gap Adventures) is the world's biggest small group adventure travel company and offers environmentally and socially sensitive travel. G Adventures is based in Toronto, Canada, but also has offices throughout the world. With one of the best passenger-to-guide ratio and plenty of room to move about in the G Adventures fleet, the 150-ton, 16-passenger cruise ship Estrella del Mar is value incarnate, with roomy outdoor spaces, comfortable cabins, cozy common areas, and a naturalist guide.

Cruise itinerary program

MV Estrella del Mar itinerary program is based on Galapagos Islands cruises sailing out of Baltra Island.

The Estrella del Mar ship has 8 double cabis, all with a window, air conditioner and private bathroom with hot water.

Dining options - Food & Drinks

Ship's comfortable Dinning Room boasts fresh and tasty international and local cuisine, prepared fresh daily. All meals onboard are included.

Entertainment options - Fun & Sport

The Estrella is not as big as some of the other cruise ships, but her public areas are deceptively roomy. Passengers can relax in Estrella del Mar’s air-conditioned, indoor social areas, or enjoy the sea breeze from one of her sun or shade decks. The yacht also offers a bar and TV/DVD use. The Estrella carries a team of 7 crewmembers and a naturalist guide who are all well-versed in the local wildlife, geology and vegetation of the islands, certified by Galapagos National Park Service. All shore excursions with the English speaking naturalist guide are price-included. Wetsuits available for rent. Beach towels and snorkelling equipment are included at no extra charge.
