MS Vasily Surikov Review
Review of MS Vasily Surikov
MS Vasily Surikov cruise ship (“теплоход Василий Суриков”) is a traditional Russian river passenger vessel built for the USSR (Soviet Union) in Austria and extensively refurbished in 2014. The ship (project Q-040) is named after the Russian painter Vasily Ivanovich Surikov (1848–1916) and is currently owned and operated by the Russian shipping company Mosturflot (“Мостурфлот”).
The vessel is equipped with modern navigation systems and facilities and has a maximum passenger capacity of 150 guests. Accommodation includes 62 twin cabins with two lower beds, 2 single cabins with one lower bed, 18 triple cabins with two lower and one upper bed, and 4 junior suites. All staterooms are outside.

Each cabin offers standard amenities including central air-conditioning (individually controlled heating and ventilation), private en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, washbasin, hairdryer, towels, bath products), flat TV, radio, refrigerator, wardrobe, safe (in the closet), vanity mirror, writing desk with chair, bedside table, reading lights, and 220 V power sockets. Suites additionally feature a coffee table, two armchairs, and floor lamps. Ceiling height is 2.2 m.
In 2007, MS Surikov underwent extensive refurbishment, resulting in enlarged staterooms with oversized opening picture windows, upgraded bathrooms with separate shower stalls, individual air-conditioning, and modern hotel-style amenities. In 2014, all cabins received flat TVs (with international channels) and mini-fridges, and Wi-Fi Internet was added in the ship’s public areas.
The classically furnished and elegant MS Vasily Surikov is ideal for exploring Russia’s waterways. The spacious dining room serves simple dishes with Russian influence. Onboard activities include folklore workshops, traditional dance classes, and Russian language lessons.
