RV Bengal Ganga Review
Review of RV Bengal Ganga
RV Bengal Ganga is an intimate yet spacious riverboat owned and operated by the luxury travel brand Antara River Cruises (India).
The 8-day Ganges River cruise itinerary offers departures from Munger and Kolkata (India). The route spans approximately 650 km (400 mi), allowing guests to explore regions of India that are only recently opening to international tourism.
The boat's primary voyage charterer, Riviera Travel UK/fleet, is currently the UK’s second-largest river cruise company and the country’s largest overseas escorted tour operator. The family-owned Riviera River Cruises oversees all aspects of its cruisetour itineraries through a carefully selected team led by professional land tour managers.

This luxury riverboat showcases extensive use of Burmese red teakwood and handcrafted brass fittings throughout. The three passenger decks feature an air-conditioned Dining Room (Main Deck), a spacious forward-facing Upper Deck Lounge & Bar furnished with comfortable rattan armchairs, and an Ayurvedic Spa.
The Sun Deck offers both open-air and shaded areas furnished with hardwood steamer chairs.
A small gift shop sells handicrafts, traditional souvenirs, and artwork.
Bengal Ganga has 28 staterooms, all fully air-conditioned. Cabins on the Main and Upper Decks are identical in size (13.5 m2 / 145 ft2) and feature local textiles and paneled teak walls and floors.
All staterooms are equipped with twin beds, private bathrooms (shower, hairdryer), ample storage space, personal safes, and doors opening onto shared outdoor promenade deck areas.
Premium Suites are larger (21 m2 / 224 ft2) and located aft on the Upper Deck. These suites feature double beds and sliding glass doors.

There is a single seating in the restaurant at mealtimes. The ship offers an extensive breakfast buffet, a lunch buffet (with a selection of served dishes), and a sit-down dinner. Complimentary coffee and tea are available throughout the day in the Dining Room and on the Sun Deck. The Saloon Bar is open daily, serving a variety of local and imported wines, beers, spirits, liqueurs, and cocktails.
Onboard activities include expert lectures on Indian religion, culture, and daily life, chef’s cooking demonstrations, and evening documentary screenings. Life onboard is relaxed and informal.
Upgrades completed during the vessel’s 2024 refurbishment included renovation of the 1970s-inspired interiors, refurbishment of all balconies and windows, a machinery overhaul, and comprehensive cleaning and repainting.
