Ros Crana barge Review

Review of Ros Crana barge

Ros Crana barge was purchased in January 2012 by the UK travel company Caledonian Discovery. The former freight barge was converted into a hotel barge in May 2013. The vessel has a maximum capacity of 12 passengers plus 6 crew members. She features a deck-level galley (kitchen) and dining area with outside views, while the spacious saloon (bar lounge) is located below deck and offers opening windows and comfortable seating.

Cabins

Ros Crana has a total of 6 cabins, each fitted with a large lower bed and a standard upper berth. All staterooms are equipped with a heated towel rail, radiator, ample storage space, and a large opening window. Towels and bed linens are provided. The in-cabin showers are powerful and supply plenty of hot water.

Shipboard facilities

This riverboat has standard-sized steps leading from the deck into the vessel at both ends, fitted with sturdy handrails. The crew regularly assists passengers when embarking and disembarking. However, the barge is not wheelchair accessible. When at anchor, access to and from shore is provided by a smaller RIB support boat, reached via a short ladder from the deck. The vessel also features ramps at each end of the cabin passage and single steps into the en-suite bathrooms and showers. For safety reasons, passengers must be sufficiently mobile to climb a short ladder in the event of an emergency evacuation.

Ros Crana’s cruise itinerary includes departures from Fort William (Scottish Highlands) and sailings through the region’s scenic sea lochs (Scottish glens).
