Review of RV Anawrahta
RV Anawrahta cruise ship is owned by Heritage Line and operated by its subsidiary company (and brand) Jahan Cruises. In the Heritage Line fleet, sisterships of Anawrahta are RV Jayavarman (aka Mekong Explorer, 2009-built), RV Jahan (2010) and RV Anouvong (2019).
The ship Anawrahta cruises on Irrawaddy River with departures from homeports Bagan, Yangon and Mandalay. The riverboat is named after Burmese nation’s founder - King Anawrahta (born in 1014). Anawrahta dynasty lasted for a total of 33 years, between 1044-1077, which marked a period of spreading of Theravada Buddhism throughout Myanmar. RV Anawrahta is now considered one of the most beautiful cruise vessels on Irrawaddy River. It is definitely the best choice Burma luxury river travel vacation option, providing the market's largest cabin space and the highest crew to passenger ratio.
The shipowner Heritage Line was established in 2008 to provide luxury river cruises between Vietnam and Cambodia. It is a joint Swiss-Vietnamese venture company based in Vietnam. Company's fleet consists of classic (traditionally designed and built riverboats), each decorated with unique, colonial-style and hand-made furniture. RV Anawrahta is a remarkable vessel resembling a British-Colonial paddle-steamer.
Ship's largest rooms are the two Royal Suites - named after King Anawrahta and his son Kyansitta. With a private Jacuzzi and large terrace, both cabins feature elegant woodcarvings, handmade artefacts and Burmese artworks.
The 141 m2 (1518 ft2) Hintha Hall Restaurant is located on the Terrace and seats all passengers at the same time. It is inspired by Mandalay and Bagan’s gorgeous decorations of ancient time, offering luxurious dining halls of yesteryear. The Hintha Hall Restaurant always looks exquisite with gleaming glassware and white tablecloths which are surrounded by polished wood and stunning views, framed by big picture windows.
Ship's Thaizin Spa offers elegant decoration, expert service and locally-inspired treatments in beautiful surroundings. There are three massage beds and a steam bath in Thaizin, the perfect place for passengers to enjoy a relaxing time.
