MS Excellence Pearl Review
Review of MS Excellence Pearl
The MS Excellence Pearl cruise ship was launched in 2003 (as “MS Rembrandt”) and renamed in 2017. The riverboat is owned by the German travel company Swiss Excellence River Cruise GmbH, based in Basel (a subsidiary of Twerenbold Reisen), and operated by Excellence Flussreisen (travel brand) through Reiseburo Mittelthurgau AG (marketing and sales).

The ship operates itineraries along the European rivers Rhine, Moselle, Neckar, and Saar.
Cabins
MS Excellence Pearl offers 41 double cabins spread across two decks, all of which are outside and uniformly sized at 12 m² (130 ft²). Upper Deck cabins feature French Balconies accessed via sliding glass doors (floor-to-ceiling opening windows), while Main Deck cabins have two large porthole windows (half-height and non-opening for safety reasons).
All staterooms are equipped with standard amenities, including a flat-screen TV (with satellite reception, ship information channel, and real-time bow camera views), telephone, wardrobe, electronic safe (in the closet), double bed (convertible to twins), bedside tables, wall-mounted reading lamps, writing desk with padded stool, and an en-suite bathroom with single-sink vanity, WC, shower, and hairdryer. Each cabin has individually controlled air conditioning.
Shipboard facilities
The ship features a bright, inviting lounge—an ideal place for guests to relax, socialize, or read. The interior design throughout is elegant and modern, with white, pastel, and mother-of-pearl tones complemented by fine materials. Onboard entertainment includes quiz games, crew shows, themed and dance nights (often with live music). Additional highlights on many cruises include language courses and lectures on folklore or the history of regions visited along the itinerary.
Dining onboard includes a rich breakfast buffet, afternoon pastries with coffee and tea, and a variety of European dishes for lunch and dinner. The elegant restaurant serves breakfast from a diverse buffet of hot and cold specialties. Lunch features a buffet of salads and starters followed by waiter-served courses, while dinner offers a refined multi-course menu. The culinary highlight of each voyage is the formal gala dinner. The attentive crew and experienced tour guides ensure a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere aboard this elegant, German-speaking ship.

MS Excellence Pearl Wiki
- In February 2018, MSC Group and MOBY LINES signed a shipbuilding contract with the Chinese companies GSI (Guangzhou Shipyard International) and CSTC (China Shipbuilding Trading Co) for four new luxury cruise ferries. Each vessel has a passenger capacity of 2,500, cargo capacity of 3,765 lane meters (equivalent to 750 cars or 250 trailers), a length of 230 m (755 ft), and a service speed of 24 knots. The contract also includes an option for an additional four vessels of the same design. Two of the ships (the first and third) are designated for GNV, while the second and fourth are for MOBY LINES. Delivery of the first ship was originally scheduled for 2020. Both Chinese shipbuilders are subsidiaries of the state-owned CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation).
