MPS Salvinia Review
Review of MPS Salvinia
MPS Salvinia cruise ship is owned by Scheepvaartbedrijf Steneker (Holland) and operated under charter by Feenstra Rijn Lijn (translated as Feenstra Rhine Line). This premium riverboat sails on the Main, Moselle, Rhine, and Danube rivers, as well as on the Dutch Waterways. Departures are available from Arnhem, Basel, and Cologne. MPS Salvinia cruise fares include all transfers to and from the ship (by air, coach, or train/Eurostar).

Like all Feenstra ships, Salvinia is Netherlands-flagged and registered in Maasbracht, Holland.
Cabins
All cabins are outside and feature centrally regulated air conditioning and heating. Each stateroom has a private en-suite bathroom with WC and shower, a separate single-sink vanity, flat-screen TV, hairdryer, electronic safe (in the closet), and a wardrobe with ample storage space. During the day, one of the two separate beds can be converted into a sofa. Cabins 130 and 131 offer the same amenities but feature a freestanding double bed (non-convertible to twins).
In the 3-berth cabins (triple occupancy), the third bed is an upper bunk (Pullman) suitable only for children. These staterooms are slightly larger than the 2-berth (double occupancy) cabins. The two triple cabins are located on Main Deck and can also be booked as doubles (for two passengers / 2-berth Cabin Plus). Double cabins on Promenade Deck feature larger windows compared to those on Main Deck, where the windows are placed higher. The ship also offers seven single cabins (available without a single supplement).

The cabin categories include:
- Single 1-berth cabin (7 m² / 70 ft², Promenade Deck)
- Double 2-berth cabin, Type B (11 m² / 120 ft², Promenade Deck)
- Double 2-berth cabin (9 m² / 100 ft², Promenade Deck)
- Triple 3-berth cabin with upper bunk bed (11 m² / 120 ft², Promenade Deck)
- Single 1-berth cabin (7 m² / 70 ft², Main Deck)
- Double 2-berth cabin (9 m² / 95 ft², Main Deck)
- Double 2-berth cabin, Type B (9 m² / 90 ft², Main Deck)
- Triple 3-berth cabin with upper bunk bed (9 m² / 100 ft², Main Deck)
Shipboard facilities
The Salvinia is designed like a sleek yacht, featuring elegant textiles, leather furnishings, and dark wood finishes. The beautifully decorated lounge includes an open fireplace, creating an inviting and cozy atmosphere with a comfortable sofa and baby grand piano. The Sun Deck serves as a relaxing outdoor living room, ideal for enjoying pleasant weather. Guests can also unwind in the impressive library—a quiet retreat for reading. Additional amenities include a small gym (with an exercise bike) and a wellness area with a whirlpool, sauna, solarium, massage chairs, and shower room. Wireless internet access is available in the restaurant, hall, and lounge, where laptops can also be rented. A passenger lift (elevator) with a capacity of six people connects all decks.

The onboard luxury extends to the ship’s elegant restaurant, located on the Main Deck and offering panoramic river views. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style, featuring a wide selection of Continental and English options. The 4-course dinner includes a starter, soup, a choice of meat or fish main course (with a vegetarian option available upon request), and dessert—all expertly prepared. One evening features a special 5-course Captain’s Dinner, a highlight of every Salvinia cruise experience.
Feenstra cruise fares include full bar service, with tea and coffee served by waiters daily at regular intervals. Drinks in the Bar Lounge and shore excursions are not included in the fare. Feenstra Rhine Line does not charge additional port fees or onboard gratuities.
