MS Thurgau Casanova Review
Review of MS Thurgau Casanova
The 2001-built MS Thurgau Casanova cruise ship is currently owned by River Nautical GmbH (Zug, Switzerland) and operated under charter by Thurgau Travel (fleet). Until 2025, the ship (then named MS Casanova) was chartered to the Stuttgart-based cruisetour company Nicko Tours.
Thurgau Casanova is Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057329). The ship cruises on the Rhine River and its tributaries between the homeports of Stuttgart and Saarbrücken.

The vessel (ENI number 04800110) is Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057329) and registered in Basel. When chartered by Thurgau Travel (a Switzerland-based cruise brand/agency), the riverboat is rebranded as “Thurgau Casanova.”
Cabins
Thurgau Casanova has a total of 48 cabins accommodating 96 passengers. Standard cabins are all outside, equal in size (12 m2 / 130 ft2), and equipped with lower beds (2 twins or 1 double), bedside tables, wardrobe, writing desk with chair, small table with chair, en-suite bathroom (shower, WC, washbasin), hairdryer, LCD TV (satellite reception), electronic safe (in the closet), phone (intercom/onboard only), and centrally controlled air conditioning.
Main Deck cabins feature 2 lower beds (2 twins convertible to a double, or 1 twin plus 1 sofabed), providing more daytime space. Midship are two Deluxe cabins (16 m2 / 170 ft2), each with a double bed (non-convertible to twins) and two non-opening windows.
All Upper Deck cabins are French Balcony staterooms with floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening to a railing (false balcony). Upper Deck accommodations offer either 2 lower beds (1 twin and 1 sofabed) or 1 double bed (1.6 x 2 m) with two mattresses.
Shipboard amenities
Thurgau Casanova has a fore-located Dining Room Restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows, single-seating capacity, and an open seating arrangement. The menu features both traditional dishes (inspired by countries visited along the itinerary) and international cuisine specialties. Fine wines and gourmet delicacies are also offered. Each voyage includes a Gala Dinner with an exquisite menu and ice parade.
On the Upper Deck is the Lobby area with Reception Desk (24-hour guest services and assistance), Tour Office (excursion information and booking), and Gift Shop. One staircase connects all decks. The ship has no wellness complex (Fitness, Spa, Hair Salon), no Library, no lift (passenger elevator), and no swimming pool or Jacuzzi. The Wheelhouse, all railings, and awnings are retractable to allow passage under low bridges.
The Sun Deck features retractable awnings (shaded seating areas with 4-seat tables and chairs, full bar service) and an aft-located deckgames area (Giant Chess Set and Putting Green/Mini-Golf). The midship sunbathing area is furnished with sunloungers and deckchairs.

The fore-located Bar Lounge on the Upper Deck has floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable seating (round tables with armchairs), and a grand piano for live performances by the resident pianist, and is served by its own bar. Onboard entertainment includes daily live music, cooking demonstrations, quiz games, bingo, crew shows, themed dance nights, enrichment lectures, and media presentations related to destinations and excursions along the cruisetour itinerary.
The cruise company offers optional shore excursions (not included in the cruisetour fares) at each visited port. Land tours include sightseeing, city walks, cycling tours, and bus travel to nearby tourist destinations. All guided excursions include complimentary portable audio headsets.
MS Casanova cruise deals include all onboard meals (breakfast buffet, waiter-served lunch and dinner, afternoon coffee with cake, midnight snacks), Welcome Cocktail party, Welcome Dinner, Gala Dinner, onboard entertainment, ship tour, and port taxes. Cruisetour fares do not include flights, transfers, excursions, insurance, gratuities, beverages, or personal expenses.
