MS VistaNova Review
Review of MS VistaNova
The 2006-built (as Amadeus Princess) cruise ship VistaNova is a time-chartered riverboat currently operated by the German cruise company and travel brand 1AVista Reisen.
The shipowner is Lüftner’s Amadeus River Cruises. Amadeus Princess was first chartered in 2018 (April through November). Until 2024, the vessel was chartered to the UK-based Fred Olsen and operated under the name “MS Brabant.”
MS Brabant cruises on the Danube, Main, Rhine, and Moselle rivers, with departures from homeports Dusseldorf, Nuremberg, Budapest (Hungary), Hirsova (Romania), Amsterdam (Holland), and Basel (Switzerland).

MS Amadeus Princess did not undergo a refurbishment before Fred Olsen’s charter. However, the vessel received Brabant branding and a new hull livery. A Fred Olsen staff member was placed onboard to ensure the company’s standards were maintained, while the rest of the crew remained Lüftner Cruises employees. As Fred Olsen’s customers are predominantly British, the onboard language was English and payments were made in GBP.
In 2024, the vessel (ENI number 04804710) was reflagged from Germany (MMSI 211171530) to Switzerland (MMSI 269057099).

MS VistaNova Wiki
In May 2017, Fred Olsen Cruise Line announced the launch of the company's new river cruisetour program featuring a chartered riverboat. The announcement appeared in the brochure “European River Cruising by Fred Olsen.” Fred Olsen’s river voyages were offered in 2018 (from April 11 through November 3) on the 156-passenger riverboat “MS Brabant” (Amadeus Princess). The inaugural season introduced various itineraries with a total of 30 departures and cruise durations ranging from 5 to 25 nights. All deals included guided shore excursions and city tours. The ship opened for Fred Olsen bookings on May 26, 2017.
Fred Olsen named its river cruise ship after the Dutch province of North Brabant (informally known simply as “Brabant”) in the southern Netherlands. Brabant borders South Holland and Gelderland to the north, Limburg to the east, Zeeland to the west, and Belgium to the south.
The Duchy of Brabant was an imperial state established in 1183 as part of the Holy Roman Empire (800–1806). It later became the heart of the Dutch Low Countries (within the Burgundian Netherlands). North Brabant features diverse natural landscapes, including large national parks with marshes, farmlands, and forests. The region is flat but situated above sea level. The province’s largest nature reserves include Biesbosch (7100 hectares), Zoom-Kalmthoutse Heide (3750 ha), Loonse en Drunense Duinen (3400 ha), and Grote Peel (1340 ha).
