MS River Discovery II

The 2013-built MS River Discovery II joined the fleet of the European river cruise company Vantage Deluxe Travel in 2013. The riverboat carries 176 passengers, although her size allows up to 200 guests on other lines.

The ship is designed for North American travelers who are mature and have high expectations. These needs are met through a passenger-to-staff ratio of 4-to-1, four cabin categories (78% with French balconies), a high number of single cabins, and cuisine tailored to the American palate.

River Discovery II offers culture-rich itineraries. On some sailings, she spends 10 days cruising a stretch of river that other travel brands cover in 8 days. This provides guests with more time in port and the opportunity to explore destinations independently, in addition to joining a daily program of included shore excursions.

In 2022, the vessel (ENI number 2334834) changed her flag state/registry from Germany (MMSI 211563860) to Switzerland (MMSI 269057824) and is currently registered in Basel.
