Moby Zaza ferry Wiki
The ship entered service in May 1982 for Olau Line under the name "Olau Britannia" and was deployed on the England–Holland route between Sheerness and Vlissingen. The vessel was built by Schichau Seebeckwerft in Bremerhaven, Germany, under hull/yard number 1031. Her powerplant consists of Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 8PC2-5L-400) with a total power output of 15.3 MW.
In May 1990, the ship was sold to Fred Olsen Lines, renamed "MS Bayard," and operated on the Norway–Denmark routes (Kristiansand–Hirtshals and Oslo–Hirtshals). In January 1991, after COLOR LINE acquired Fred Olsen Lines, the vessel was renamed "Christian IV."
In July 2008, the ship was sold to Stella Lines, renamed "MS Julia," and deployed on the Finland–Russia route between Helsinki and St Petersburg. After two months of service, the vessel was laid up until 2009, when she was sold to Fastnet Line. In 2010, she began operations on the UK Wales–Ireland route between Swansea and Cork.
In January 2017, Moby Lines signed a contract with Wartsila to install new diesel engines on Moby Zaza. The company also contracted Wartsila to repower her fleetmates Moby Corse and Moby Kiss. Wartsila Marine supplied four new auxiliary diesel generator sets (with automatic voltage regulators), seawater cooling systems (complete circuits), exhaust gas silencers, and fuel systems.
The vessel was initially Bermuda-flagged (MMSI 310582000), but in 2020 her flag state was changed to Italy (MMSI 230637000).
