Scenic Emerald

MS Royal Emerald (fka Scenic Emerald) cruises on the Danube, Main, and Rhine rivers on itineraries visiting Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. Departures are offered from homeports Amsterdam, Nurnberg-Nuremberg, Basel-Zurich, Budapest, and Prague. Itineraries departing from Paris City (France) are price-inclusive with airfare deals to/from Holland or Germany.

Scenic Emerald was launched in 2008 as one of Scenic Cruises' popular “Space-Ships.” These vessels are designed to provide spacious cabins and public areas, as well as one of the industry's highest passenger-to-space ratios. The ship features contemporary lounges and restaurants, and more than 80% of the staterooms have balconies.

The vessel Royal Emerald is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057282) and registered in Basel. Scenic Emerald was previously Malta-flagged (MMSI 248234000) and registered in Valletta.

Since 2021, Royal Emerald has been operated under a long-term charter by Teeming River Cruises (a Florida-based travel agency in the USA) and sails mainly on the Danube River.

Cabins

All Scenic Emerald staterooms feature premium amenities—from step-out balconies to flat-screen TVs with complimentary movies. Scenic guests also benefit from free Wi-Fi in each stateroom, L’Occitane en Provence products, and minibars. Diamond Deck suites include personal butler service. Scenic Emerald has a total of 85 cabins (70 of which are balcony suites) in 14 categories.

• More than 80% of the accommodations feature full-size balconies. Every room has a “Scenic Slumber Bed,” queen-size with fine linens and a pillow menu. Junior and Royal Suites also include butler service.

Shipboard facilities

Scenic Emerald restaurants include Crystal Restaurant, Portobellos (Italian), Riverview Terrace (al fresco), and Table la Rive (Emerald Deck, for Suite passengers only). The ship also features a Panorama Lounge, River Cafe, Wellness Centre (Gym and Spa), shop, and an elevator connecting all cabin decks. During all Scenic cruise tours and shore excursions (included in the fare), guests receive GPS tracking devices (called ScenicTailorMade) with uploaded digital maps. These devices also function as listening systems for live narration by the line's local expert tour guides during group excursions. Binoculars and bicycles are also provided complimentary to allow guests to fully enjoy the scenery along the itinerary.

Scenic river cruise deals are among the industry's most all-inclusive. All meals, drinks (except French Champagne and the highest-end liquors), excursions, butler service, and Internet are included in the fares. Even the drinks in the cabins' mini-bars are complimentary. Scenic Tours cruises traditionally attract travelers from Australia and the UK, along with a steadily growing number of Americans, Canadians, and Germans. Passengers are typically 55+, financially comfortable, and well-traveled.
