Review of Emerald Destiny
Emerald Destiny (built in 2017) is the 5th among Emerald Waterways ships, preceded by her fleetmates Emerald Star, Emerald Sky, Emerald Sun, Emerald Dawn. Emerald Destiny replaced a riverboat named "Emerald Belle", which was destroyed by a fire in February 2016, just a few weeks before her debut in Europe. Rather than repairing the “significantly damaged” vessel, the company decided to start fresh with a new one. The expansion of the fleet continues in 2017 with the launch of Emerald Radiance (Portugal) and Emerald Liberte (France).
Emerald Waterways is a new river line, established in 2014 and owned by Scenic Tours company. Like the new longships of Viking River Cruises, the innovations onboard Emerald Waterways ships make these vessels an alternative to ocean cruise vacations. Emerald Destiny adds more choices of itineraries and sailing dates for the aficionados of European luxury river cruise ship travel – an all-inclusive style.
Emerald Destiny has a total of 92 staterooms in 5 categories for 182 guests served by 47 crew members. All cabins have maximum capacity of 2 passengers per cabin. 75% of all rooms are Suites with a balcony (in-room/step-out veranda).
Like most of the newest luxury river ships, the Emerald boat Destiny has 4 passenger decks, night cinema covered with sliding roof, indoor swimming pool, Gym, Spa, massage room, 1 elevator and passenger-use bikes.
Note: You can see the CruiseMapper's list of all river cruise ships and riverboats in the "itinerary" section of our River Cruises hub. All companies and their fleets are listed there.
