MV Blue Star Mykonos ferry (formerly Nissos Mykonos) is a Ro-Ro passenger vessel operated by the Greece-based company BLUE STAR FERRIES. The ship has a maximum capacity of 1,915 passengers and 418 cars. Launched in 2005, the vessel currently serves the mainland Greece to Greek Islands ferry route Piraeus-Syros-Tinos-Mykonos-Ikaria-Samos, with a crossing time of approximately 9 hours.
Since March 2021, Attica Group has operated a new service via Blue Star Mykonos, departing from Thessaloniki and connecting to the North Aegean and Cyclades Islands: Lemnos-Lesbos-Chios-Samos-Fourni-Ikaria-Mykonos-Syros-Piraeus.
Cabins
As a cruiseferry, Blue Star Mykonos has 31 air-conditioned cabins with en-suite bathrooms, offering a total of 104 berths. Cabins can accommodate up to 4 passengers and include both interior (with 2 or 4 bunk beds) and exterior (with 1 double bed) options.
The ferry company provides bed linens, towels, and toiletries. Some cabins are wheelchair-accessible for passengers with disabilities. Elevators, ramps, and specially designed restrooms are also available.
Dedicated "Pet Cabins" with linoleum flooring are available. For hygiene reasons, dogs are not permitted in indoor public areas such as restaurants, bars, or lounges. Pets must travel in pet cabins or cages, and dogs must always be leashed, muzzled, and under the passenger's supervision.
The Reserved Seating Lounge features a large TV and reclining Pullman seats (comfortable, fully reclining leather armchairs). Reserved seating is available for pre-booking and includes complimentary beverages (tea, coffee, soft drinks). The Lobby Bar Lounge is furnished with leather sofas, chairs, and round tables.
All passengers must vacate their staterooms 30 minutes prior to arrival at the homeport.

Pets on the ship
The ship provides Pet Cages (the type must be specified at the time of booking).
All large Blue Star ferries offer two types of cages for pets: small (maximum height 50–75 cm, for pets under 30 kg) and large (maximum height 70–90 cm, for pets over 30 kg). Passengers may also bring their own pet carriers.
Cage pricing is fixed per voyage and varies by route. Valid health cards for pets are required. Pets must remain in their cages/carriers for the entire crossing.
During embarkation and disembarkation, dogs must be leashed and muzzled. Passengers with pets disembark last.
Blue Star ferry deals
- Bicycles are transported free of charge.
- On all Greek Islands routes, the company offers: 20% "Special Economy" ticket discount, €20 pp "Super Economy" ticket discount, 15-20% discount on all cabin types, and 20-30-50% discounts for SeaSmiles (loyalty program) members. These offers apply only to Piraeus departures.
- On Greece–Crete routes (Piraeus to Heraklion), discounted cabin plus car packages are available for one-way trips. Packages apply to full cabins (grades A2, A3, A4, AB2, AB3, AB4). A 20% return ticket discount is also included.
Year-round discounts include: 50% for children aged 5–10, free travel for children under 5 in Economy Class or 50% in cabins, 50% for students with ISIC cards, 30% for Greek domestic and Greece–Italy combined travel, 20% for roundtrip Piraeus–Paros (summer evening departures), and 50% off seat tickets and 25% off cabin tickets for FIP members (active personnel and families, except in July and August and excluding LUX cabins).
Car decks
All vehicles must have proper documentation and valid insurance. Carrying the vehicle’s technical data sheet is recommended for easier boarding checks. Vehicle model, length, and height must be specified when booking. Car deck safety procedures include:
- Disabled passengers or those needing assistance should contact the Information Desk (open 24 hours).
- Engage the handbrake and place the vehicle in park or 1st gear. Turn off the ignition, alarm, electrical devices, and lights. Gas cylinders must be turned off. Lock the vehicle.
- Take only valuables and essential hand luggage from the vehicle.
- Note your vehicle's location and garage deck/stairway before leaving the car deck.
- Access to vehicle decks is prohibited during the voyage.
- Smoking on vehicle decks, in cabins, and in passenger lounges is strictly forbidden.
- Wait for the onboard announcement before returning to your vehicle.
- To avoid air pollution, do not start the engine until instructed.

The vessel is powered by four WARTSILA marine diesel engines (model 12V38) with a total power output of 31.7 MW, and uses two CPPs (controllable pitch propellers) for propulsion.
