MS Blue Star Patmos ferry is a Ro-Ro passenger vessel operated by the Greece-based company BLUE STAR FERRIES. The ship has a maximum capacity of 2,000 passengers and 427 cars (or 60 lorries and 145 cars). Launched in 2012, the vessel currently operates on the Greece–Dodecanese Islands ferry route Piraeus–Kalymnos–Kos–Rhodes, Astypalaia–Patmos–Lipsi/Leipsoi–Leros–Nisyros–Symi–Tilos–Kastellorizo (crossing time: 22.5 hours).
Cabins
As a cruise ferry, Blue Star Patmos has 91 cabins with a total of 326 berths. All staterooms are air-conditioned and feature en-suite bathrooms. Cabins accommodate up to 4 passengers and are available in both inside and outside categories (with large windows). Each cabin is equipped with an LCD TV, radio, telephone, good sound insulation, and both bed and central lighting options.
- Bed linens, towels, and toiletries are provided. Some cabins are wheelchair-accessible (adapted for disabled passengers). Cabins for passengers with special needs are available by advance reservation only via phone (+30-210-8919800).
- Pet-friendly cabins are available but cannot be booked online. These are limited and require advance reservation. If fully booked, a small number of kennels (dog booths) are also available. Pets are not permitted in any cabins (except "A4 Pets" rooms) or in indoor areas such as bars, restaurants, and lounges. Dogs may be walked on open decks but must be leashed and muzzled.
- The ship also features 405 reclining seats.

The ship has designated luggage storage areas. Luggage up to 50 kg (or 1 m³) is transported free of charge but must not contain valuables. Valuables can be handed over to the Chief Purser (Reception) for safekeeping.
All Blue Star ferries are equipped with CCTV systems for video monitoring. Wi-Fi and Internet access are available for a fee. Mobile phone chargers and iPad rentals are also offered. Emergency instructions are displayed in cabins, on TV screens, and at muster stations. Life jackets are issued at assembly stations. In case of emergency, elevator use is prohibited.
Smoking is not permitted in any indoor areas, including public spaces and cabins. Smoking is allowed only in designated outdoor areas.
Blue Star ferry deals
- Bicycles are transported free of charge.
- On all Greek Island routes, the company offers a 20% "Special Economy" ticket discount, €20 per person "Super Economy" discount, 15–20% discount on all cabins, and 20–50% discount for SeaSmiles (loyalty program) members. These offers apply only to departures from Piraeus.
- On Greece–Crete routes (Piraeus–Heraklion), the company offers discounted cabin and car packages for one-way crossings with full cabin bookings (A2, A3, A4, AB2, AB3, AB4). A 20% return ticket discount is included with each package.
Year-round ticket discounts include: 50% for children aged 5–10, free travel for children under 5 in Economy Class (or 50% discount for cabin travel), 50% for students with ISIC cards, 30% for Greek Domestic combined with Greece–Italy routes, 20% for roundtrip Piraeus–Paros (summer evening departures), and 50%/25% seat/cabin ticket discounts for FIP members (railway personnel and families), excluding July and August and LUX cabins.
Pets on the ship
Blue Star Patmos offers Pet Cages, which must be specified when booking. Large Blue Star ferries provide two cage types: small (max height 50–75 cm, for pets under 30 kg) and large (max height 70–90 cm, for pets over 30 kg). Passengers may also bring their own pet carriers.
Pricing for cages is fixed per voyage and varies by route. Valid pet health cards are required. Pets must remain inside their cages or carriers throughout the journey.
During embarkation and disembarkation, dogs must be leashed and muzzled. Pet owners always disembark last.
Car decks
Vehicles are stored on garage decks 1 through 5. Car deck safety procedures include:
- Passengers with disabilities or needing assistance should visit the 24-hour Information Desk.
- Engage the handbrake, place the vehicle in park or 1st gear, turn off ignition, alarms, and electrical systems. Shut off any gas cylinders and lock the vehicle.
- Take only essential hand baggage and valuables from the vehicle.
- Note your vehicle's location and garage deck/stairway number before leaving the car deck.
- Access to vehicle decks during the voyage is prohibited.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited on vehicle decks, as well as in cabins and passenger lounges.
- Wait for the onboard announcement before returning to your vehicle.
- To prevent air pollution, do not start your engine until instructed.

The ferry (along with her sister ship, Blue Star Delos) was ordered on June 25, 2009. The vessel was delivered on June 12, 2012, arrived at Port Piraeus on July 9, 2012, and commenced operations on July 11 on the Piraeus–Chios Island–Lesbos Island (Mytilene) route. During her first year of service, she completed 314 crossings, transporting a total of 235,450 passengers, 22,912 cars, and 10,104 trucks.
The ship is powered by four STX marine diesel engines with a combined output of 32 MW and is equipped with two controllable pitch propellers for propulsion.
