Club Med 2 Review
Review of Club Med 2
Launched in 1992, the yacht Club Med 2 is a modern sailing ship owned by Club Med Cruises. The vessel is marketed as "cruise ship" (mega-yacht) and is powered by 7 computer-controlled sails combined with traditional diesel-electric propulsion (4 diesel generators power 2 electric motors).
History - construction and ownership
The 14,983-ton, 372-passenger cruise ship Club Med 2 is owned and operated by Club Med SA (fka Club Méditerranee) - French corporation (part of Fosun Group) specializing in premium all-inclusive vacation packages to its privately-owned resorts worldwide. Club Med 2's sistership (Club Med 1) was bought by Windstar Cruises and renamed Wind Surf (1998).
Club Med 2 is a 5-masted sailing ship (computer-controlled schooner) and one of the world's biggest sailing cruise ships. The vessel was completely drydock reconstructed and fully refurbished in 1996.
Cruise itinerary program
MV Club Med 2 itinerary program is based on Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea voyages in the summertime, and Caribbean cruises in the winter. Transatlantic repositioning crossings between Europe and the Caribbean are also offered.
Cabins
The interior of the ship was revamped by Sophie Jacqumin. Now Club Med 2 has a large Owner’s Suite and ten 385-square-foot Suites, along with 5 Deluxe Cabins and 170 Club Cabins. The Spa was also refurbished, so guests can relax and unwind while enjoying the views of the ocean.
Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks
Club Med 2 features all-inclusive cruises, with room service for breakfast and gourmet restaurants. Tables are set each evening. Cookery classes are offered three times per week. The Méditerranée is one of the two ship's restaurants. It is situated on deck G, right by the large terrace and mixes various flavours with exotic cuisines. The restaurant is a la carte in the evening, but Intimate dinners can be reserved in advance at the reception. The Magellan Restaurant is on deck E and features waiter services in the evenings. Its chef and his team prepare a mix of rare and French dishes.
Club Med 2 has four bars: The Pacific, which hosts the welcome cocktail; The Venise on deck E; The Moby Dick boasting an evening pianist, and Albatros, located by the swimming pool.
Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport
The unique Club Med 2 yacht easily finds her way into anchorages which larger ships cannot reach. This extraordinary ship features music and ballroom dancing while cruising at night and making a stop each morning. Snorkelling is included in the Club Med 2 cruise package, as well as wakeboarding and water skiing. Passengers can read in the library, an exercise in the Gym, or dance the night away in the Nightclub. A relaxing massage in the Wellness Center is offered for an extra fee.
