MS William Wordsworth

The 2019-built MS William Wordsworth cruise ship (initially named “Dylan Thomas”) is operated under charter by the UK cruisetour company Riviera Travel on itineraries along the Rhine, Danube, and Moselle rivers.

Sisterships include Thomas Hardy (2016), Emily Bronte (2017), Oscar Wilde (2017), Robert Burns (2018), and Geoffrey Chaucer (2020).

The riverboat is owned by the Swiss company Scylla Cruises.

For the 2021 fall season, William Wordsworth and Geoffrey Chaucer were time-chartered by Phoenix Reisen, a cruisetour company headquartered in Bonn, Germany.

The vessel (ENI number 7002098) is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057655) and registered in Basel.

Shipboard dining and entertainment options

The riverboat features an elegant Lobby (entrance hall on Diamond/Upper Deck) with Reception Desk (24-hour assistance, information, purser services), Travel Desk (tours and excursions, onboard cruise bookings) and Boutique Shop. From the lobby/foyer, passengers access the stylish Bar Lounge located forward, offering floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable seating, and a full-service bar.

Aft on Diamond Deck is the Bistro/Lido Restaurant, an alternative to the main Dining Room Restaurant. The Bistro has its own bar and also doubles as a library. It offers an outdoor terrace and open kitchen, serving early breakfast, light lunch, and dinner. In good weather, the floor-to-ceiling window doors are fully opened onto the terrace for al fresco dining. Bistro dining is complimentary, but dinner requires reservations due to the restaurant’s small capacity (10 tables seating two or four guests). The ship’s Dining Room Restaurant (on Ruby/Middle Deck) provides single-seating capacity and offers buffet breakfast plus waiter-served lunch and dinner.

On Emerald/Lower Deck is the ship’s Wellness Centre, consisting of a Beauty Salon (hairdresser, barber, nail studio), Fitness/Gym Room, and Spa (treatment room for massages). All cabin decks are fully air-conditioned and accessible via the passenger elevator and a wrought-iron staircase.

The Sun Deck features a Giant Chess Set, Mini-Golf putting green, retractable awnings (shaded seating area), aft Pool Deck (Splash Pool, Jacuzzi, sunbathing area with loungers and deckchairs), and full bar service. The forward-located Navigation Bridge (called the “Wheelhouse” on riverboats) is passenger-accessible and telescopic (can be lowered for passing under low bridges).

Cabins

Like her sisterships, William Wordsworth has 88 staterooms designed for 169 passengers (maximum 176 with single-occupancy cabins). Most cabins feature wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening to a railing (French Balcony). The only exceptions are Emerald Deck cabins, which have a single fixed, non-opening quarter-height window located near the ceiling.

• All passenger staterooms include as standard amenities: hotel-style twin beds (convertible to double), en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, towels, bath toiletries, large mirror), 40-inch flat HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system, bow-camera real-time views), mini-bar, tea/coffee-making facilities, glass-top round table with two armchairs, mirrored dressing table with pouf chair, wardrobe, electronic safe box, hairdryer, phone, individually controlled air conditioning, and evening turndown service.
• All cabin bathrooms feature marble countertops, glass showers (with large rain-shower heads), and premium Crabtree & Evelyn bath products.
• Some staterooms are available for single-occupancy booking without a single supplement (subject to availability).
• Deluxe Balcony Suites (on Diamond Deck) additionally offer larger interior space, a furnished step-out balcony (table and two chairs, suitable for al fresco dining), and premium cotton bathrobes and slippers.
