MY Harmony G Review
Review of MY Harmony G
The 2001-built Harmony G cruise ship is a futuristic-looking superyacht owned by Variety Cruises (fleet). The ship was delivered to the company in 2001 and was completely renovated during 2009-2010 refurbishment, with changes to her public areas and cabins. Ideally sized to reach small coves, Harmony G cruises in the Mediterranean, Black Sea and the Red Sea repositioning through the Suez Canal.
The vessel (IMO number 8984989) is currently Greece-flagged (MMSI 239780000) and registered in Piraeus/Athens.
This cruise ship has 4 passenger decks and capacity 43 guests. The 21 outside-only staterooms have either portholes or picture windows. Cabins are in 4 categories: A and B (on the Main Deck) and C (on Lower Deck) are determined by location. There are four P cabins (on Upper Deck) which are effectively junior suites with seating areas featuring convertible sofa beds. Cabins range from 9 to 18 m2 (100-195 ft2), which might seem too "cozy" based on cruise ship expectations, but is actually quite spacious for a yacht. All accommodations are decorated in soft colors and provide individual climate controls, TVs, safes, minifridges, bathrooms with hairdryers and showers, and either portholes or large windows. Beds can be doubles, queens or twins.
The sunny weather of the standard itineraries of my Harmony G means a lot of time spent outside, whether at the outdoor bar, on a sun deck lounger, or utilizing the marina platform used for water sports (kayaks and snorkeling equipment are provided).
Indoors passengers will find a comfortable lounge with an adjacent bar and dining room which offers all meals in a single seating. Menu items reflect the region's cuisine. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style affairs, while 3-course dinners boast table service. Cocktails and wine are available at an additional cost.
Onboard entertainment is limited to TV (in the lounge and in staterooms, local channels only). The superyacht offers Wi-Fi for an additional fee. A cruise coordinator provides shore excursion information and destination briefings.
