MS Panorama 2 yacht Review

Review of MS Panorama 2 yacht

The 2004-built MS Panorama II cruise ship is a superyacht owned by the Greek travel brand Variety Cruises (fleet). The vessel (IMO number 9325453) is also operated under charter by Lindblad Expeditions and Noble Caledonia (UK). The boat was completely drydock renovated in 2012.

The vessel is currently Greece-flagged (MMSI 240201000) and registered in Piraeus/Athens.

Panorama II and her sistership Panorama I are among the largest Greece-based superyachts available for private charter.

This 50-passenger ship is ideal for corporate events, incentive meetings, family celebrations and other private charters. She has a length of 50 m (LOA) and a maximum passenger capacity of 50, accommodated in 25 double cabins.

In 2022-2023 (November 23rd thru January 6th), the yacht Panorama II was transported from Europe (Genoa) to French Polynesia (Papeete) by DYT Yacht Transport (1987-founded company, formerly DOCKWISE YACHT TRANSPORT) via its heavy-lift vessel Yacht Express (IMO 9346029). After being loaded onto Yacht Express and delivered to Papeete, she started Variety Cruises’ French Polynesia season in the Society Islands on January 13th.

Decks and Cabins

MV Panorama II staterooms on the Upper and Main decks have windows, while Lower Deck cabins are fitted with portholes. All staterooms (100-170 ft2 / 9-16 m2) are elegantly designed and finished with warm fabrics and polished wood trims. Bathrooms are fully equipped and finished in marble. All accommodations are air-conditioned and feature a telephone (internal use), smart HDTV, central music, hairdryer, mini-fridge, safe box and PA (public address) system.

The boat has 3 passenger decks, all with cabins.

Shipboard facilities and amenities

The indoor Bar-Restaurant is located on the Main Deck, though when weather permits, all meals are served alfresco. The dining room accommodates all guests and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Both the Library and the Restaurant can be converted into meeting rooms equipped with audio-visual technology.

The aft Sun Deck is furnished with chairs and loungers. A swimming platform allows guests to enjoy water activities when weather and anchorage conditions permit. Water sports equipment, such as snorkeling gear and kayaks, is available upon request. Indoor spaces include a lounge with a library, large smart HDTV and comfortable sofas.

Wi-Fi is available at an additional cost.

Itineraries

The MV Panorama II schedule previously included Cuba cruises. From December 2016 through March 2017, the yacht was chartered to Lindblad Expeditions–National Geographic for voyages to Cuba.

In mid-July 2020, the small-ship cruise company Variety Cruises introduced its year-round French Polynesia program starting in 2021 with two island-hopping itineraries in the Society Islands and Tuamotus.

Departing roundtrip from homeport Papeete Tahiti, Panorama II sails to popular Pacific atolls and islands, allowing travelers to experience pristine beaches, crystal-clear lagoons, dramatic mountains and sacred temples.

  • "Tahiti and the Pearls of French Polynesia" is a 7-night itinerary visiting the Society Islands: Bora Bora, Huahine and Moorea.
  • "Tahiti, Society and Tuamotus" is a 10-night itinerary visiting Makatea, Tetiaroa, Tikehau and Rangiroa.

Panorama II’s inaugural season was initially scheduled for December 2020 through November 2022 but was postponed due to the Coronavirus crisis and rescheduled for May 2022 through December 2023.

Variety’s itinerary programs offer optional shore excursions on the islands visited, many themed around French Polynesia’s culture, history, marine life and unique sea experiences—departing directly from the yacht’s Marina (aft-located swimming platform).
