Moby Otta ferry

MS Moby Otta is a Ro-Ro passenger ferry owned and operated by the Italian company MOBY LINES. The ship has a maximum capacity of 1,900 passengers and 500 cars. Launched in 1976, she currently operates on the Mediterranean route between Italy and Sardinia — Genoa–Olbia (crossing time approx. 10.5 hours).

Cabins

As a cruise ferry, Moby Otta offers 400 air-conditioned cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms (WC, shower, hairdryer). The company provides bed linens, towels, and toiletries. The ship also has wheelchair-accessible cabins (adapted for disabled passengers).

Moby Otta’s staterooms are available in the following categories:

• Inside Twin (C2, C2G) – 2-berth, no windows
• Outside Twin (C2E, C2EN, C2EG) – 2-berth, with porthole window
• Inside Quad (C4, C4G, C4N) – 4-berth, no windows
• Outside Quad (C4E, C4EG, C4EN) – 4-berth, with porthole window
• Outside Twin (J2EM) – 2-berth Junior Suite (1 double bed), with porthole window
• Moby Lines cabin types C2G, C2EG, C4G, and C4EG are designated “Pet Cabins,” featuring linoleum flooring.
• Moby V-Class categories (C2V, C2EV, J2EVM, J4EV, S4V) are upper deck accommodations available as VIP packages. These offer exclusive amenities (radio, phone, flat TV, minibar, luxury bath products) and services (in-cabin dining/breakfast, reserved dining with American breakfast buffet at a specialty restaurant). Moby V-Class cabins are available only during peak season (May–October).
• Disabled-access cabins cannot be booked online (reservations by phone: +49 (0) 611 14020).

The ship’s Seating Lounge features large TVs and reclining Pullman seats (comfortable, fully reclining armchairs). Reserved seats can be booked online or onboard at the Reception Desk (subject to availability).

All passengers must vacate their cabins one hour before arrival at the homeport.

Shipboard Dining and Entertainment

Moby Otta, classified as a “Fast Cruise Ferry,” offers a wide range of onboard amenities and entertainment options:

• Accommodation options include passenger cabins and the Seating Lounge (standard coach seats and reserved leather recliners).
• Show Lounge – forward piano bar lounge with comfortable seating and a stage for live performances, including stand-up comedy and music shows.
• All lounges feature large satellite TVs.
• Dining options include: Self-Service Restaurant (buffet-style, with kids’ menu), À La Carte Restaurant (gourmet cuisine, fine wines, premium desserts), Acme Pizzeria (Looney Tunes-themed self-service pizza bar), Cafeteria (snack bar/patisserie/coffee shop offering fast food, pizza, and drinks), Gelateria (ice-cream shop), Lido Bar (serving the sundeck area).
• All meals are prepared using locally sourced ingredients, featuring traditional Mediterranean cuisine. The buffet restaurant always offers freshly prepared dishes.
• Video Games Room – teen lounge with arcade machines.
• Children’s World – playroom with toys, games, climbing structures, and a full-size play boat.
• Moby Shopping Center – boutique and general store selling gifts, souvenirs, alcohol, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, clothing, sportswear, toiletries, electronics, toys, books, and magazines.
• Sun Deck (Solarium) – open-air area with sun loungers, a heated swimming pool (large plunge pool), and the Lido Bar (poolside drinks and snacks).
• Also located on the Sun Deck are the Navigation Bridge (forward) and the adjacent officers’ quarters.
• Wi-Fi and Internet access are available at extra cost. Mobile phone chargers and iPad rentals are also offered.

The ship provides kennels for domestic pets. Valid pet health certificates are required. During embarkation and disembarkation, dogs must be leashed and muzzled. Passengers traveling with pets disembark last.

All Moby Lines vessels are equipped with CCTV systems for security. Smoking is prohibited inside the ship. Looney Tunes-themed décor and branding can be found throughout, reflecting Moby’s partnership with Warner Bros.

Car Decks

All vehicles must have valid documentation and insurance. Providing the car’s technical data sheet can speed up boarding checks. When booking, vehicle model, length, and height must be specified. Passengers traveling with cars must arrive at the port at least 90 minutes before departure.

Below are the car deck safety procedures:

• Disabled passengers or those requiring special assistance should contact the Information Desk.
• Apply the handbrake and place the vehicle in park or 1st gear. Turn off the ignition, alarm, electrical systems, and headlights. Gas cylinders must be turned off. Lock the vehicle.
• Take only valuables and essential hand baggage.
• Note your vehicle’s location and garage deck number/stairway before leaving the car deck.
• Access to vehicle (cargo) decks during the voyage is prohibited.
• Smoking on vehicle decks, in cabins, or passenger lounges is strictly forbidden.
• Wait for the onboard announcement before returning to your vehicle.
• To prevent air pollution, do not start the engine until instructed.
