Deck 10 is dedicated to passenger and crew cabins.

As facilities, the Moby Fantasy ship offers:
- Accommodation options – passenger cabins and the aft Seating Lounge (standard coach seats and reserved leather recliners).

All Moby Lines ships are equipped with CCTV systems with image recording. Smoking is prohibited indoors. Looney Tunes characters and branding from Moby’s partnership with Warner Bros are featured throughout the ship.
Car decks
All vehicles must have proper documentation and valid insurance. Having the vehicle’s technical data sheet helps speed up boarding checks. At booking, the vehicle’s model, length, and height must be specified. Car ferry passengers should arrive at the port at least 90 minutes before departure.

The ship has four wheeled cargo decks (1, 3, 5, and 7) with a total freight capacity of 1,300 cars (300 trucks) and stern access only. Cargo decks are interconnected via fixed internal ramps. Two outer ramps connect directly to Deck 5, one central ramp connects to Main Deck (Deck 3), and one two-lane starboard ramp connects to Deck 7.
Foot passengers embark via stern-located escalators that connect Cargo Deck 3 with the upper decks.
Car deck safety procedures:
- Disabled passengers or those requiring assistance should visit the ship’s Information Desk.
- Apply the handbrake, place the vehicle in park or 1st gear, and switch off the ignition, alarm, electrical systems, and headlights. Gas cylinders must be turned off. Lock the vehicle.
- Take only valuables and essential hand baggage.
- Note your vehicle’s location and garage deck number/stairway before leaving.
- Access to vehicle decks during the voyage is prohibited.
- Smoking is forbidden on vehicle decks, in cabins, and in passenger lounges.
- Wait for the onboard announcement before returning to your vehicle.
- Do not start the engine until instructed to avoid air pollution.

Moby Fantasy ferry Wiki
In February 2018, MSC Group and MOBY LINES (via Onorato Armatori) signed a shipbuilding contract with the Chinese companies GSI (Guangzhou Shipyard International Co Ltd) and CSTC (China Shipbuilding Trading Co) for four new luxury cruise ferries. Each ship has a passenger capacity of 2,500 (536 cabins), cargo/garage capacity of 3,765 lane meters (750 cars or 250 trailers), a length of 230 m (755 ft), a beam of 32 m (105 ft), a speed of 24 knots, and a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 9,000 tons. The vessels are diesel-powered and LNG-ready. The contract also included an option for four additional units of the same design. Two of the newbuilds (1st and 3rd) were ordered for GNV, and the other two (2nd and 4th) for MOBY LINES. The first vessel (for GNV) was initially scheduled for delivery in 2021. Both Chinese shipbuilders are subsidiaries of the state-owned CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation).
The design contract was awarded to OSK-ShipTech AS, a Copenhagen-based subsidiary of OSK Group specializing in maritime design, naval architecture, project development, risk management, and vessel optimization. The sisterships’ hulls and superstructures will feature Looney Tunes characters, replacing the traditional blue whale design used by Moby Lines.
On June 27, 2019, Onorato Armatori Group signed an order with GSI-Guangzhou Shipyard (Nansha, China) for two cruise ferries. During the signing ceremony in Beijing, Onorato Armatori announced that the new ships would replace the fleetmates Moby Aki (2005-built/IMO 9299393) and Moby Freedom (2001-built/IMO 9214379) on the Italy–Sardinia route Livorno–Olbia, operating one roundtrip daily.
The two-ship construction contract was financed by ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd) and the Italian company Società Fratelli Onorato SNC, jointly owned by brothers Achille and Alessandro Onorato.
Since the February 2018 announcement, the vessels’ design (developed by OSK-ShipTech via its subsidiary Steen Friis Design) was further optimized following tank tests conducted at MARIN (Maritime Research Institute Netherlands) in Wageningen.
- Key design changes included an increased length (from 230 to 237 m / 778 ft), freight capacity expanded to 3,850 lane meters, and the number of passenger staterooms increased from 536 to 550. The ships have four wheeled cargo decks (1, 3, 5, and 7, with fixed internal ramps and stern access only) and three cabin decks (7, 8, and 10).
- Cargo decks were redesigned to increase freight capacity from 750 to 1,300 cars and from 250 to 300 trucks. Two outer ramps connect directly to Deck 5, one central ramp accesses Deck 3 (Main Deck), and one two-lane starboard ramp leads to Deck 7. Foot passengers board via stern-located escalators connecting Cargo Deck 3 with the upper decks.
- Most public spaces are located on Deck 9, allowing certain areas to be closed during the off-season. The main galley features a transparent glass wall adjacent to the à la carte restaurant (port side), allowing passengers to view food preparation. The other main dining venue is the forward buffet restaurant (self-service). Aft on Deck 9 is the Reserved Seating Lounge. Deck 10 is dedicated to passenger and crew cabins.
- The ferries are fitted with hybrid scrubbers and are LNG-ready, with the top deck reserved for LNG tanks (for storing liquefied natural gas).
The Wärtsilä engines, running on ULSD (ultra-low sulfur diesel), produce a total power output of 10.8 MW. The ships have a maximum speed of 25 knots and a service speed of 23.5 knots.
In 2015, Onorato Armatori Group (owned by Vincenzo Onorato) acquired TIRRENIA, which joined the sister brands MOBY LINES and TOREMAR (Toscana Regionale Marittima, founded in 1975) under the same ownership.
On March 25, 2021, Moby Group submitted an asset restructuring proposal to its creditors, which included selling certain ships, land properties (in Milan and Olbia), and its tugboat division managing 16 vessels.
- The plan included the sale of three cruise ferries (Moby Aki, Moby Tommy, Moby Wonder), as well as two Ro-Ro ships – Pietro Manunta (1991-built/IMO 8903155) and Giuseppe Sa (1975-built/IMO 7382378).
- Moby Group began facing financial difficulties in Q4 2019 due to insufficient liquidity to cover bond coupon payments and a €50 million (US$56M) loan amortization payment due in February 2020. During the COVID-19 crisis (Q1–Q3 2020), the company burned €116 million (US$130M) of its cash reserves, leaving only €56 million (US$63M) in cash and a fully drawn revolving credit facility of €60 million (US$67M).
- Ultimately, the restructuring plan was rejected by the company’s bondholders and creditors.
The construction of the vessel Moby Fantasy began with the steel-cutting ceremony on June 1, 2020. The ship was launched (floated out from drydock) on November 6, 2021.
Moby Fantasy (yard/hull number 18121002) was initially planned for delivery in July 2022, but this was postponed to May 2023. The sistership Moby Legacy (yard/hull number 18121004) was scheduled for delivery in February 2023. The remaining two units (tbn3 and tbn4) are still on order, with planned deliveries in June and October 2024, respectively.
Commanded by Captain Massimo Pinsolo, Moby Fantasy departed China (Nansha/Guangzhou Shipyard) on May 13, 2023, en route to Europe (Livorno, Italy) via the Suez Canal. Anchorage stops for bunkering were scheduled in Hong Kong (May 13–14, overnight), Colombo (Sri Lanka, May 21), and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia, May 27). The ship arrived in Port Livorno on June 3, 2023.
The ship’s namesakes include the cruise liners Disney Fantasy (2012-built), Carnival Fantasy (1990), and the ferry Color Fantasy (2004).
