The ship is powered by four Wärtsilä marine diesel engines (8-cylinder, combined output of 31.2 MW). The power plant also includes four auxiliary Wärtsilä diesel generator sets. Propulsion is provided by three bow thrusters (combined output 6.6 MW), two aft thrusters (combined output 2 MW), and two controllable pitch propellers (Rolls-Royce).

Currently, Color Fantasy is the world's second-largest cruiseferry, surpassed only by her sistership and fleetmate, Color Magic.

The ferry's namesakes include the cruise liners Disney Fantasy (built in 2012) and Carnival Fantasy (1990), as well as the ferry Moby Fantasy (2023).

During the drydock refurbishment in 2015, Color Fantasy’s Wärtsilä 8L46 engines were upgraded with new turbochargers (model TPL 73-A32, replacing model TPL 73-A30), resulting in significant fuel savings and reduced exhaust gas temperatures.
