MS Moby Tommy is a Ro-Ro passenger ferry owned and operated by the Italian company MOBY LINES. The ship has a maximum capacity of 2,200 passengers and 1,000 cars. Launched in 2002, she currently operates on Mediterranean routes between Italy and Sardinia — Livorno–Olbia (crossing time approx. 6.5 hours), Piombino–Olbia (5 hours), and Civitavecchia (Rome)–Olbia (5.5–8 hours, depending on day or night crossing).

Cabins

As a cruise ferry, Moby Tommy offers air-conditioned cabins with en-suite bathrooms (WC, shower, hairdryer). The company provides bed linens, towels, and toiletries. Wheelchair-accessible cabins (adapted for disabled passengers) are also available.

Moby Tommy’s staterooms are categorized as follows:

• Inside Twin (C2, C2G) – 2-berth, no windows
• Outside Twin (C2E, C2EN, C2EG) – 2-berth, with porthole window
• Inside Quad (C4, C4G, C4N) – 4-berth, no windows
• Outside Quad (C4E, C4EG, C4EN) – 4-berth, with porthole window
• Inside Twin (S2) – 2-berth Suite (1 double bed), no windows
• Moby Lines cabin types C2G, C2EG, C4G, and C4EG are designated “Pet Cabins,” featuring linoleum flooring.
• Disabled-access cabins cannot be booked online (reservations by phone: +49 (0) 611 14020).

The ship’s Seating Lounge is equipped with large TVs and reclining Pullman seats (comfortable, fully reclining armchairs). Reserved seats can be booked online or onboard at the Reception Desk (subject to availability).

All passengers must vacate their cabins one hour before arrival at the homeport.

Shipboard Dining and Entertainment

Moby Tommy, classified as a “Fast Cruise Ferry,” offers a wide range of amenities and entertainment options:

• Accommodation options include passenger cabins and a Seating Lounge (standard coach seats and reserved leather recliners).
• Show Lounge – forward piano bar lounge with comfortable seating and a stage for live performances, including stand-up comedy and musical shows.
• All lounges are equipped with large satellite TVs.
• Dining options include: Self-Service Restaurant (buffet-style, with kids’ menu), À La Carte Restaurant (gourmet cuisine, fine wines, premium desserts), Acme Pizzeria (Looney Tunes-themed self-service pizza bar), Cafeteria (snack bar/patisserie/coffee shop serving fast food, pizza, and drinks), Gelateria (ice-cream shop), Sports Bar (aft-located, sports-themed lounge), Admiral Pub (lounge), and Lido Bar (serving the sundeck area).
• Meals are prepared with locally sourced products, offering traditional Mediterranean cuisine. The buffet restaurant always features a variety of freshly cooked dishes.
• Video Games Room – teen lounge with arcade machines.
• Children’s World – playroom with toys, games, climbing structures, and a full-size play boat.
• Moby Shopping Center – boutique and general store selling gifts, souvenirs, alcohol, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, clothing, sportswear, toiletries, electronics, toys, books, and magazines.
• Sun Deck (Solarium) – open-air top deck featuring sun loungers, a heated swimming pool (large plunge pool), and Lido Bar (serving drinks and snacks).
• Also on the Sun Deck are the Navigation Bridge (forward, with officers’ quarters) and a helipad (midship, helicopter landing platform for emergencies).
• Wi-Fi and Internet access are available at extra cost. Mobile phone chargers and iPad rentals are also offered.

The ship has kennels for domestic pets. Valid health certificates are required. During embarkation and disembarkation, dogs must be leashed and muzzled. Passengers traveling with pets disembark last.

All Moby Lines ferries are equipped with CCTV systems for onboard security. Smoking is prohibited inside the vessel. Looney Tunes-themed décor and branding can be found throughout, reflecting the company’s partnership with Warner Bros.

Car Decks

All vehicles must have valid documentation and insurance. Providing the car’s technical data sheet can speed up boarding checks. When booking, vehicle model, length, and height must be specified. Passengers traveling with cars must arrive at the port at least 90 minutes before departure.

Below are the car deck safety procedures:

• Disabled passengers or those requiring special assistance should contact the Information Desk.
• Apply the handbrake and place the vehicle in park or 1st gear. Turn off the ignition, alarm, electrical systems, and headlights. Gas cylinders must be turned off. Lock the vehicle.
• Take only valuables and essential hand baggage.
• Note your vehicle’s location and garage deck number/stairway before leaving the car deck.
• Access to vehicle (cargo) decks during the voyage is prohibited.
• Smoking on vehicle decks, in cabins, or passenger lounges is strictly forbidden.
• Wait for the onboard announcement before returning to your vehicle.
• To prevent air pollution, do not start the engine until instructed.
