Moby Tommy ferry Wiki
The ship was delivered on October 9, 2002, under the name "Ariadne Palace," to the Greek company Minoan Lines. She entered service in November on the Italy–Greece route Venice–Igoumenitsa–Patras.
The vessel was built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (Geoje, Korea) under hull/yard number 1281. Her powerplant consists of four Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 12V46C) with a total power output of 50.4 MW. The propulsion system includes two driveshafts with Wartsila-made controllable pitch propellers (CPPs). The hull is ice-strengthened (1A class).
In August 2006, Ariadne Palace was sold to Moby Lines and delivered in December, when she was renamed "Moby Tommy." In early 2007, she entered drydock in Genoa, Italy, for interior refurbishment and renovation. Moby Lines began operating her in summer 2007 on the routes Olbia (Sardinia)–Piombino and Livorno–Olbia. Her sister ships are Zeus Palace and Mega Express 3.
In spring 2012, the vessel was chartered by TTT Lines and later returned to Moby Lines service in summer, operating on the Civitavecchia–Olbia route. Between September 2007 and January 2013, the ship was laid up, awaiting charter by TIRRENIA or potential sale to another operator. In 2013, she resumed service on the Livorno–Olbia route, and in summer 2016, she began operating for TIRRENIA on the Genoa–Olbia and Civitavecchia–Olbia routes.
