MS Mega Express 3 is a Ro-Ro passenger ferry owned and operated by the French company CORSICA-SARDINIA FERRIES. The vessel has a maximum capacity of 2100 passengers and 650 cars. Launched in 2001, she currently serves the Italy–Sardinia route Livorno–Golfo Aranci (6 hours 25 minutes, summer season) and the France–Corsica route Toulon–Ajaccio via Bastia (6 hours 45 minutes, off-season).
The vessel (IMO number 9208083) is currently Italy-flagged (MMSI 247089500) and registered in Genova.
Cabins
Mega Express 3 has 368 cabins, all air-conditioned and featuring private bathrooms (washbasin, WC, shower). All staterooms are located forward, above the car decks, and are available in 2-, 3-, or 4-berth configurations (inside and outside). The ferry company provides bed linens, towels, and toiletries.
The ship also offers 485 fully reclining Pullman armchairs located in two Reserved Seating Lounges, both equipped with large TVs and bar service. Some staterooms are wheelchair-accessible (adapted for passengers with reduced mobility).
All passengers must vacate their cabins 30 minutes prior to arrival at the homeport.

- The Wellness Center includes a Spa (sauna, jacuzzi, locker rooms, relaxation area, massage rooms), Beauty Parlor (salon and beauty shop), Fitness Center (gym with Technogym equipment), and outdoor sundeck area with loungers and deckchairs.
- The Children’s Room is an indoor play area featuring a large TV (cartoons), bean bags, small tables and chairs, toys, games, and a ball pit. Supervised activities are also organized.
- The boutiques are duty-free shops selling perfumes, cosmetics, fashion accessories, spirits, wines, tobacco, toys, electronics, confectionery, travel essentials, and souvenirs. Shopping promotions and seasonal discounts are offered regularly.
- (Lobby Deck 6) ATM/cash machine next to Reception (Information Desk). Wi-Fi is available for a fee, with packages purchasable online (during booking) or onboard at Reception.
- Aft on Deck 9 is the Helideck (helicopter landing area for emergencies).
- Forward on Deck 9 is the Sun Deck (Solarium) with swimming pool, jacuzzi, poolside bar, and sunbathing area.
- Forward on Deck 10 is the Navigation Bridge with adjacent officers’ quarters.
- An infirmary (ship hospital) provides 24-hour nurse service.
All emergency instructions are displayed in staterooms, on TV screens, and at the ship’s assembly (muster) stations. Lifejackets are distributed at these stations. Elevators must not be used in emergencies.
Car decks
The ship’s garage has four car decks with a total capacity of 670 vehicles, accessed via two stern ramp gates. A third (smaller) gate also at the stern allows foot passengers direct entry to the Lobby Deck (Reception) on Deck 6. Safety equipment includes four large lifeboats, two medium-sized boats, one semi-rigid rescue craft, and liferafts.
Car deck safety procedures:
- Passengers requiring assistance should contact the Information Desk (Deck 5, open 24 hours).
- Engage the handbrake, place the vehicle in park or 1st gear, and turn off the ignition, alarm, and lights. Gas cylinders (if any) must be turned off. Lock the vehicle.
- Take only valuables and essential hand luggage with you.
- Note your vehicle’s location, garage deck number, and stairway before leaving the car deck.
- Access to vehicle decks during the voyage is prohibited.
- Smoking is forbidden on car decks, in cabins, and in all passenger areas.
- Wait for the onboard announcement before returning to your vehicle.
To minimize air pollution, engines must not be started until instructed.

The vessel was built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (Geoje, South Korea) under hull/yard number 1280. Her powerplant consists of four Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 12V46C) with a combined output of 50.4 MW. Propulsion is provided by two driveshafts fitted with Wartsila-made controllable pitch propellers (CPPs). The hull is ice-strengthened to 1A-class standards.
Originally named “Oceanus,” the ship entered service for MINOAN LINES on July 5, 2001. Between 2002 and 2004, she operated under the name “Ariadne Palace One.” Her sisterships are Moby Tommy and Zeus Palace.
For MINOAN LINES, the vessel served the Greece–Italy routes Patras–Igoumenitsa–Venice, Patras–Igoumenitsa–Ancona, and Patras–Igoumenitsa–Corfu–Bari. In 2002, she also operated the Italy–Malta–Tunisia service (Genoa–Valletta–Tunis).
