RV Jahan Review

Review of RV Jahan

The 2010-built RV Jahan cruise ship is owned by Heritage Line and operated by its subsidiary company (and brand) Jahan Cruises. The riverboat is currently chartered by the cruise line National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions as one of the top-rated boutique-style Mekong River cruise vessels. In the Heritage Line fleet, RV Jahan’s sisterships are RV Jayavarman (also known as Mekong Explorer, built in 2009), RV Anawrahta (2015) and RV Anouvong (2019).

History - construction and ownership

The 50-passenger ship RV Jahan was named after Shah Jahan, an Indian emperor who ruled the Mughal Empire from 1628 to 1658. He was a great patron of architecture and the arts and oversaw the construction of many legendary sites, including the Red Fort in India and the famous gardens of Kashmir.

Cruise itinerary program

RV Jahan’s itinerary program is based on 7-night Mekong River cruises departing from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and Siem Reap.

Cabins

Designed in the style of classic colonial liners, the Jahan ship offers 26 luxurious cabins featuring queen-size beds, floor-to-ceiling windows, and private balconies with en-suite bathrooms. The riverboat boasts some of the largest balcony staterooms (30-50 m2) on Indochina’s waterways.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Nat Geo RV Jahan has one Main Dining Room with open seating. The restaurant serves Western and regional cuisine inspired by the ports of call. All meals are served in a single seating. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, while dinner is offered either as a buffet or a set menu. Guests can also explore the culinary highlights of Khmer and Vietnamese cuisine during the onboard cooking workshop.
