Star Clipper Review
Review of Star Clipper
The 1992-built Star Clipper cruise ship is a 4-masted barquentine (in comparison, the fleetmate Royal Clipper is 5-masted). The vessel was constructed by Scheepswerven van Langerbrugge (Ghent Belgium) and is currently operated by the Monaco-headquartered Swedish company "Star Clippers Ltd".
The vessel (IMO number 8915445) is currently Malta-flagged (MMSI 248786000) and registered in Valletta.
History - construction and ownership
The 170-passenger ship Star Clipper is a tall sailing vessel owned by Star Clippers Ltd (Sweden). The sisterships Star Clipper and Star Flyer were both designed for affluent passengers who enjoy traveling in luxury aboard traditional sailing superyachts.

Decks and Cabins
Star Clipper has 4 passenger decks with a total of 85 cabins, including 1 Owner’s Suite, 8 Deluxe, 70 Outside, and 6 Inside. The number of cabin grades is 7. The ship offers an intimate experience, accommodating up to 170 passengers.
All staterooms feature marble-lined bathrooms and include twin or double beds. Amenities also include direct-dial telephone, television with video, and a hairdryer.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks
All vessels in the Star Clippers fleet offer open-seating dining. All meals onboard Star Clipper are served in a single open seating in the Dining Room and Saloon. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, while dinner is ordered from a 5-course menu. The cuisine is simple and flavorful, typically offering two choices per course, along with a "Chef's Suggestion" for the main course. Steak with French fries and a vegetarian option are always available as nightly alternatives.
Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport
Life onboard Star Clipper is relaxed, similar to traveling on a private yacht, and guests never feel confined. The sailing ship provides spacious accommodations, expansive teak decks, and two swimming pools. All Star Clippers ships offer significantly more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships. Star Clipper’s decor is reminiscent of the grand age of sailing, with antique paintings and prints of famous ships enhancing the ambiance. Gleaming teak and mahogany rails reflect her nautical heritage. Onboard facilities include the Piano Bar and Tropical Bar, an Edwardian-style library with an Internet station, and a Belle Époque fireplace, all contributing to the ship’s welcoming atmosphere. Additional amenities include lounges (indoor and outdoor), a health club, Sloop Shop, Purser's Office, and wireless Internet access.
Itineraries
Star Clipper’s schedule includes Mediterranean cruises departing from Piraeus-Athens and Valletta, as well as voyages to the Canary Islands and the Eastern Caribbean from Philipsburg (St Maarten Island).
Star Clippers first operated in Indonesian waters in 2017, offering 19 departures between May 6 and October 14. Cruise durations ranged from 7 to 14 days, departing from Bali and Singapore. Star Clipper was deployed to the region operating six itineraries, including opportunities to see Komodo dragons. Typical ports of call included the volcanic island of Pulau Satonda, off Sumbawa’s northern coast, as well as Komodo National Park.

Star Clipper Wiki
The Star Clipper cruise ship is a 4-masted barquentine operated by the Swedish cruise company Star Clippers. The vessel is the first newly built clipper ship since 1912 and is classed 100A1 by Lloyd's.
This is a tall sailing cruise ship with 63-meter-tall masts. Her sailing rig features 16 sails, and the vessel relies on wind power approximately 80% of the time. A marine diesel engine serves as the main propulsion engine in poor wind conditions and when the ship is not under sail.
Water sports facilities onboard include scuba and snorkeling equipment, a water-ski boat, and eight Zodiacs. Sports directors provide dive instruction for a fee. There are no onboard shows, except for occasional local folklore performances from ashore. Dinner and “captain’s story time” are the main evening events. During the day, guests can also learn about sails and their maintenance.
