Star Clipper Wiki
The Star Clipper cruise ship is a 4-masted barquentine operated by the Swedish cruise company Star Clippers. The vessel is the first newly-built clipper ship since 1912, classed 100A1 by Lloyds.
This is a tall sailing cruise ship with 63-meter tall masts. Its sailing rig has 16 sails. The vessel relies on the wind 80% of the time. A marine diesel engine works as the main propulsion engine in poor wind conditions and when the clipper ship is not under sail.
Water sports facilities on board include scuba and snorkel equipment, a water ski boat, eight Zodiacs. Sports directors provide dive instruction for a fee. There are no shows, except local folklore performances from ashore. Dinner and “captain’s story-time” are the main events in the evening. During the day, guests can learn about sails and their repair.
