Belmond Amaryllis barge Review

Review of Belmond Amaryllis barge

Starting with a Dutch-built hull from 1962, the 8-passenger Belmond Amaryllis was converted into a hotel barge in 2001. The vessel now offers barge cruises in Burgundy, including itineraries around Dijon, as well as on the River Saône and Canal de Bourgogne (central-eastern France). This Belmond cruise ship is available exclusively for private charters by families or groups.

Like her fleet mates, Belmond Amaryllis offers all-inclusive cruise packages. Charter rates cover all meals, soft drinks, wines, beer, spirits, liqueurs, bottled water, and all excursions and guided tours ashore. A VW minibus follows the barge’s route and is available for guest transportation during scheduled daily tours. Typical shore excursions include wine tastings in Burgundy’s wine capital, Beaune, and visits to the Château de Germolles, a former residence of the Dukes of Burgundy.

Belmond Amaryllis has four suites, each decorated in a traditional style and furnished with tables crafted by Li Puma of Florence. The cabin windows feature custom-designed casings with large panes that frame the picturesque countryside. The sun deck offers a small heated swimming pool and loungers. The ship also carries eight complimentary bicycles for guest use along the cruise route. The onboard crew of six includes the Captain, chef, tour guide, sailor, and two hosts.
