Review of Clair de Lune barge

The Clair de Lune barge was purpose built and completed in Holland in 1997. The vessel's original name was "Aurora", previously owned by a Dutch family. As cargo ship, it was designed for transporting cocoa. In 1998, the vessel was transformed into a luxury hotel barge to provide a premium river cruising experience on Canal du Midi in France.

From mid-July through September, Clair de Lune cruises on an alternative Canal du Midi itinerary passing Castelnaudary and Carcassonne. The ticket price inclusive excursions are to the medieval Cathar town Mirepoix, the beautiful Lac de Saint-Ferreol and Limoux for private wine tasting.

The Clair de Lune ship is tastefully furnished with African hardwoods and cherrywood. Besides a modern and sophisticated interior, the riverboat also boasts superior accommodations for up to 6 passengers in 3 contemporary twin or double junior suites with in-cabin facilities, making her ideal for family charters.

The hotel barge has a comfortable, elegant saloon (lounge) and dining area with large picture windows, spacious sundeck with a spa pool, together with complimentary bicycles for all passengers to ride alongside the waterway.
