Athos barge Review
Review of Athos barge
MS Athos barge is a luxury hotel barge (cruise ship) originally launched in 1964 as a cargo vessel for dry bulk shipping (mainly grain and sand). In 1982, the vessel was drydock converted into a 10-passenger ship. Since 2011, she has been owned by Dannielle and Julian Farrant. The boat is also operated under charter by European Waterways for cruises along the Canal du Midi (southwestern France), between the homeports of Toulouse and Sete.
The ship is commanded by a Captain-Pilot and supported by a professional crew of four, including two housekeeping/serving staff, one tour guide, and one chef. This hotel barge is fully air-conditioned, features a spacious sun deck with shaded seating, and provides complimentary bicycles for shoreside excursions. The five staterooms are available in either twin or Queen-size double bed configurations, each with en-suite bathrooms. The traditionally decorated saloon (bar lounge) includes a separate dining area.
