Cruise Ausonia ferry Wiki
The vessel is the second in a two-ship series of fast RoPax ferries built for SUPERFAST FERRIES by Flender Werke (Lubeck, Germany). Superfast XII was launched on December 7, 2001, and delivered to the shipowner on October 2, 2002. She was the 12th and final vessel in the company's original 12-ship fleet.
The ferry operated on the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Ancona route from October 2002 through March 2009, after which she was redeployed to the Piraeus (Athens)-Heraklion (Crete) route. Since May 25, 2015, Superfast XII has served SUPERFAST FERRIES on the mainland Greece to Greek Islands route Piraeus (Athens)-Syros-Patmos-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Rhodes, with a total crossing time of 22 hours and 40 minutes. Kalymnos was added to the itinerary in 2017.
On October 26, 2017, Attica Group (Attica Holdings) signed an agreement to acquire a 48.53% equity stake (37,667,504 shares for a total of EUR 78.5 million) in HELLENIC SEAWAYS. The Superfast XII ship was purchased separately (from Grimaldi Group for EUR 74.5 million), along with Highspeed 7 (from MINOAN LINES for EUR 25 million). With this acquisition, Attica Group increased its total equity stake in HSW to 98.83%.
In 2018, Attica Group chartered the vessel to GRIMALDI LINES. Following a drydock refurbishment, she was renamed from "Superfast XII" to "Cruise Ausonia," and her MMSI was also changed.
