Emerald Radiance

The 2017-built MS Emerald Radiance cruise ship is a newbuild riverboat designed for passenger voyages in Portugal’s Douro Valley. Douro River cruise itineraries are operated as roundtrips from homeport Oporto.

The company’s 2017 fleet expansion also included the launches of Emerald Destiny and Emerald Liberte (France).

Emerald Waterways (2014-established) is a river cruise line company and travel brand owned by Scenic Tours. Similar to the new longships of Viking River Cruises, Emerald Waterways vessels incorporate modern innovations, offering an alternative to ocean small-ship cruising. The brand provides more itinerary choices and sailing dates for travelers seeking all-inclusive European luxury river cruising.

Emerald Radiance was christened in Oporto, Portugal on June 16, 2017. The vessel’s godmother is Gill Williams, one of the company’s top-performing travel agents.

The ship is Portugal-flagged (MMSI 263673936) and registered in Lisbon. She was built by WestSEA shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

Cabins

Most Emerald Radiance staterooms are Suites with French Balconies (indoor/step-out verandas). Except for Riviera Deck cabins (with picture windows), all other staterooms feature drop-down windows that transform the lounge area into an open-air balcony space (indoor veranda).

The ship has 56 staterooms in 10 categories, accommodating 112 guests, and is served by 37 officers and crew. All cabins are designed for double occupancy (maximum two passengers per room).

Shipboard facilities

With a capacity of 112 passengers and state-of-the-art amenities, Emerald Radiance represents a new generation of river cruising. The Sun Deck offers open-air leisure opportunities under the Portuguese sun, with a barbecue area, putting green, and a serenity pool.

The Horizon Bar & Lounge provides a stylish retreat after dinner, while a spa and fitness area offer wellness and relaxation options.

Scenic Tours (Emerald Waterways) cruise fares are all-inclusive, covering wines, beers, and soft drinks with meals, gratuities, transfers, and shore excursions. Complimentary flights from London (England) or other regional UK airports are also included.
