Finnmaid ferry Wiki
Finnmaid is the second of five Star-class ferries ordered by the GRIMALDI GROUP and built by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. She was delivered in August 2006. These Ro-Ro vessels were originally ordered for FINNLINES to operate on the Baltic Sea routes Finland-Germany (Helsinki-Travemunde) and Sweden-Germany (Malmo-Travemunde). All Star-class ferries are built with ice-strengthened hulls (classed "1A Super"), allowing safe operation in icy waters without icebreaker assistance.
The vessel is powered by 4x Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 9L46D, 5-cylinder) with a total output of 48 MW. She also has capacity for up to 192 refrigerated containers (reefers). Finnmaid entered service on the Helsinki-Travemunde route on August 19, 2006.
