Finnfellow ferry Wiki
The vessel's hull is ice-strengthened and rated Ice Class 1A, allowing her to navigate independently (without icebreaker assistance) in most ice conditions. She is powered by four SULZER marine diesel engines (8-cylinder, model 8ZAL40S) with a total output of 24 MW. The ship is fitted with stabilizers and an anti-heeling system, ensuring stability during loading operations.
She was launched as "Stena Britannica" on December 21, 1999, delivered to STENA LINE on August 25, 2000, and homeported in Gothenburg. After her christening on October 2, the ferry entered service on the UK–Holland route Harwich–Hoek van Holland, which she operated until February 2003.
In February 2003, the ferry was acquired by Finnlines Ltd. On March 3, 2003, she was renamed "Finnfellow" and re-registered in Stockholm. From April 2003 through January 2004, she sailed on the Finland–Germany route Helsinki–Travemünde. Between January 2004 and 2022, Finnfellow served the Sweden–Finland route Kapellskär–Naantali via Langnäs (Åland Islands; crossing time 8–9 hours). Port Naantali is located about 15 km (9 mi) west of Turku.
The vessel was originally Sweden-flagged (MMSI 266013000), but in 2020 her flag state was changed to Finland (MMSI 230637000).
