Finnswan ferry Wiki
Initially named "Nordlink", Finnswan is the fifth (last) in the ordered by GRIMALDI GROUP series of all 5 Star-class ferries built by the Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri. The ship was delivered in July 2007. All these Ro-Ro vessels were initially ordered for FINNLINES to serve the Baltic Sea routes Finland-Germany (Helsinki-Travemunde) and Sweden-Germany (Malmo-Travemunde). All Star-class ferries are with ice-strengthened hulls (classed "1A Super") allowing shipping operations in icy waters without icebreaking vessel assistance.
The ship's power plant includes 4x Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 9L46D, 5-cylinder, total power output 48 MW). The ship also carries reefers (refrigerated containers) - max capacity 192 units. The vessel is operated by FINNLINES' fully-owned Swedish subsidiary company Nordo-Link Ltd.
On February 6, 2018, ferry's name was changed from "MS Nordlink" to "MS Finnswan". Along with the name and MMSI, its service route was also changed - from Sweden-Germany (Malmo-Travemunde) to Finland-Sweden (Naantali Finland-Langnas Aland-Kapellskar Sweden). Before the deployment on the Sweden -Finland route, the ship underwent a refurbishment, during which were renovated all public areas, lounge areas were expanded, the duty-free shop and the restaurant were updated.
The vessel was Sweden-flagged (MMSI 266252000) but in 2020 its flag-state was changed to Finland (MMSI 230671000).
