Finnlines (fleet, founded 1947, headquartered in Helsinki, part of Grimaldi Group) operates passenger and Ro-Ro ferry services mainly in Northern Europe (Baltic and North Seas). Its ferries connect Finland, Russia, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, UK, and Spain.

Finnswan ferry Wiki

Initially named "Nordlink," Finnswan is the fifth and final vessel in the GRIMALDI GROUP’s series of Star-class ferries built by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. She was delivered in July 2007. These Ro-Ro ferries were originally ordered by FINNLINES to serve Baltic Sea routes between Finland–Germany (HelsinkiTravemünde) and Sweden–Germany (Malmö–Travemünde). All Star-class vessels feature ice-strengthened hulls (ice class 1A Super), allowing safe operations in icy waters without icebreaker assistance.

Star-Class ferry (FINNLINES)

The ship is powered by four Wärtsilä marine diesel engines (model 9L46D, 5-cylinder) with a total output of 48 MW. She also has capacity for 192 refrigerated containers (reefers). The vessel is operated by FINNLINES’ wholly-owned Swedish subsidiary, Nordo-Link Ltd.

On February 6, 2018, her name was changed from "MS Nordlink" to "MS Finnswan." With the new name and MMSI, her service route shifted from Sweden–Germany (Malmö–Travemünde) to Finland–Sweden (NaantaliLangnäs ÅlandKapellskär). Before entering service on the Finland–Sweden route, she underwent a refurbishment during which all public areas were renovated, lounges were expanded, and both the duty-free shop and restaurant were upgraded.

The vessel was originally registered in Sweden (MMSI 266252000), but in 2020 her flag state was changed to Finland (MMSI 230671000).
