MS Dutch Largo Review

Review of MS Dutch Largo

The 1997-built (originally as MS Amadeus) cruise ship MS Dutch Largo is a 140-passenger riverboat owned by the Austrian company Lüftner Cruises and operated through its travel brand Amadeus River Cruises. Since 2023, the vessel has been chartered by the Dutch Cruise Line (Netherlands/fleet).

Her sisterships include Amadeus Rhapsody (1998), Amadeus Classic (2001), Amadeus Symphony (2003), and Amadeus Royal (2005).

The vessel (ENI number 8848003) is currently Holland-flagged (MMSI 244000956) and registered in Amsterdam.

Following an extensive winter refurbishment in 2022–2023, the ship was renamed from Amadeus to Dutch Largo, and her flag state was changed from Germany (MMSI 211555260, registry in Cologne) to the Netherlands (MMSI 244000956).

Decks and Cabins

MS Amadeus/Dutch Largo has 73 staterooms distributed across four decks—the Sun Deck and three passenger decks named after famous Austrian composers: Haydn, Mozart, and Strauss.

Most cabins feature French balconies with drop-down panoramic windows.

All accommodations include twin beds convertible into queen beds, seating areas, wardrobes, TVs, and phones. Bathrooms feature showers. The suites offer additional amenities such as minibars and larger TVs.

The vessel has four decks, three of which contain passenger cabins.

Shipboard Facilities and Amenities

On Deck 1 (Haydn Deck, midship) are passenger cabins numbered 101–125 (Category C-1), while forward are crew-only areas, including cabins, storage rooms, and machinery spaces.

On Deck 2 (Strauss Deck) are passenger cabins 205–230 (French Balcony staterooms in categories B-1 and B-4). Forward are the Hair Salon (offering hairdressing and barber services), the Massage Room (for spa treatments), and the Fitness Room (gym).

On Deck 3 (Mozart Deck) are the Panorama Restaurant (main dining room), Panorama Lounge & Bar, Lobby Hall, and passenger cabins 301–323 (French Balcony staterooms in category A-1, plus Amadeus Suites).

  • The aft-located Panorama Restaurant serves early breakfast (light bites with beverages) and a full buffet breakfast. Lunch is available as either buffet or à la carte, and dinners feature five-course gourmet menus with complimentary regional wines. Ingredients are locally sourced and seasonal. Guests also enjoy Afternoon Tea & Cake service, midnight snacks, and a 24-hour coffee/tea station.
  • The forward Panorama Lounge & Bar is the main entertainment venue, offering floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable seating, and a full-service bar. The Lounge hosts enrichment programs, including port talks, destination-themed lectures, multimedia presentations, themed parties, crew shows, live music, and performances by local artists.
  • The Amadeus Club, part of the Lounge, serves as a cozy wine bar and library with Internet stations.
  • The Lobby Hall features the 24-hour Reception Desk (information, assistance, cashier services, luggage handling, and tour bookings) and a Gift Shop.

Deck 4 (Sun Deck) is the ship’s main leisure area, offering panoramic river views, ample seating (tables, deckchairs, and loungers), shaded areas with retractable awnings, a Giant Chessboard, Shuffleboard, and a Walking Track.

The fore-located Navigation Bridge/Wheelhouse is passenger-accessible and telescopic, allowing it to be lowered when passing under low bridges. Adjacent are the heated swimming pool and the Lido Bar, which offers light snacks and beverages. The ship’s fleet of bicycles—available for complimentary use during shore excursions—is also stored here.

A passenger elevator connects all cabin decks.

During shore excursions, guests can use complimentary bicycles and wireless audio systems.
