MS Ciudad de Valencia ferry (formerly Dimonios) is a Ro-Pax passenger vessel owned by the Spanish company TRASMEDITERRANEA. Launched in 2020, the vessel currently operates on Spain–Canary Islands routes, including Cadiz-Canaries and the inter-island service Las Palmas de Gran Canaria–Santa Cruz de Tenerife–Santa Cruz de La Palma (Fridays)–Santa Cruz de Tenerife–Las Palmas de Gran Canaria–Puerto del Rosario–Arrecife de Lanzarote.

Cabins

As a cruise ferry, Ciudad de Valencia has a total of 157 cabins (628 berths) in 4-bed configurations (inside and outside), including 4 Premium Suites and 2 handicap-accessible cabins for passengers with reduced mobility. Trasmediterranea ferry deals

Foot passengers must board at least 30 minutes prior to departure (15 minutes for fast ferries). Car passengers must board at least 1 hour before departure. After the cutoff, boarding is closed. On Spain–Canaries routes, all passengers must arrive at the terminal at least 2 hours before departure due to customs procedures.

Boarding cards can be issued online (upon booking) or via self-service check-in machines at terminals. All passengers (including infants and pets) must have individual boarding cards. Lost cards are reissued free of charge.

To enter Morocco, all passengers must present valid ID cards and passports (and visas if applicable). All documents must remain valid throughout the stay.

Pregnant women must sign an "Information Document for Pregnant Travelers." Women over 36 weeks pregnant are not allowed to travel. Babies (0–2 years) travel free but do not occupy a lounge seat. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Kids aged 2–13 travel at a 50% discount.

Pets on the ship

Pets (birds, cats, dogs, and other non-aggressive animals) are allowed to board with car or foot passengers. Pets are not permitted on passenger decks. Car passengers may leave pets in their vehicles or in the onboard kennels. Foot passengers must transport pets in carriers (not exceeding 50x40x25 cm), which must remain closed during the trip. Large dogs must be leashed and muzzled.

Pets require boarding cards. At booking, it must be indicated whether the animal will travel in a cage or carrier. Rates and accommodation vary by route. A valid health card with vaccinations and deworming records is required.

Pets can travel in onboard kennels (at a fee) or in personal carriers (free of charge). The kennels are built with parasite-resistant materials and are cleaned and disinfected before every trip. All ships provide pet first-aid kits and a 24-hour animal hotline. Personal pet carriers must have a waterproof bottom and be fully covered.

Guide and assistance dogs travel free of charge, have access to all passenger facilities, and must have veterinarian ID cards, be muzzled and leashed, and wear an official identification tag.

Car decks

Car passengers may travel without baggage limits. All vehicles must have valid documents and insurance. Vehicle boarding closes 1 hour before departure. After that time, boarding is not guaranteed. Luggage may remain inside vehicles, but car decks remain closed during the crossing. Vehicle shipping rates vary by route and vehicle length.

Trasmediterranea ferries transport bicycles, surfboards, and sea kayaks free of charge. These are stored in the ship’s garage and securely fastened.

Car deck safety procedures include:

  • Apply handbrake, leave the vehicle in park or 1st gear. Turn off ignition, alarms, lights, and electrical systems. Gas cylinders must be turned off. Lock the vehicle.

The vessel (named after the City of Valencia) is powered by two MAN marine diesel engines (model 9L48-60B) with a combined output of 25.2 MW. The propulsion system includes two controllable pitch propellers.

The vessel (IMO number 9869722) was built by Cantiere Navale Visentini (a shipyard in Porto Viro, near Porto Levante, Italy) under hull number 229. The cruise ship was launched (floated out from drydock) on October 15, 2019, began sea trials on June 20, 2020, and was delivered to TRASMEDITERRANEA on July 30. The ship arrived at her homeport Cadiz on August 4. The Cadiz-Canaries service (previously operated by Ciudad de Palma) began on August 11, 2020.

The shipowner changed the vessel’s flag state from Italy (MMSI used during Adriatic Sea trials) to Cyprus (MMSI 210004000), and the registry was changed from Venice to Limassol.

The ferry’s cargo capacity is 3,300 lane meters, allowing for the transport of 116 semi-trailers (trucks) and 263 cars. Additionally, the ship features 100 electrical connections for refrigerated trucks/chiller lorries.
