Review of Delfin II Amazon
The small river cruise ship Delfin II cruises on tributaries leading out of Amazon River Basin in Peru. This riverboat is designed so that passengers are embraced by rain forest views.
History - construction and ownership
The vessel is owned by Delfin Amazon Cruises (Peruvian company established by Aldo Macchiavello and his wife Lissy Urteaga), in 2006. Aldo runs the firm, while Lissy, who is an interior designer, takes responsibility for the elegant decor inside the ship, plans the daily itineraries, and makes long-range meal plans, along with the onboard chef.
The cruise ship is also operated under charter by Lindblad Expeditions in cooperation with the National Geographic Society (aka NatGeo - a US non-profit institution for science and education). The partnership that Nat Geo has with Lindblad Expeditions enables passengers to enjoy an expedition style small ship cruise vacation as active explorers. Lindblad cruise ships sail unique destinations to explore out-of-the-way inlets, making Zodiac landings and looking for wildlife.
Another charterer of the riverboat is Abercrombie & Kent (aka A&K Travel) - UK-based luxury travel company.

Shipboard dining and entertainment options
The top deck of the 30-passenger luxury vessel was installed in 2014 and provides an air-conditioned lecture room with picture windows on three sides along with facilities for films and presentations, massage room, exercise room, boutique, library, and an open-air observation lounge with its own bar and cushioned chairs. Dining aboard features ingredients exclusively from the rain forest. The open-air spaces reveal the scent of the rain forest with the smell of rain, the music of the night creatures and ever-changing scenery.
While oceangoing ships that travel across Brazilian Amazon feature myriad amenities, the emphasis on Delfin II is on exploring the ecosystem of the 8,000-sq.mile Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Delfin II offers 4- or 5-day cruises that are the time to contemplate scenery and rich array of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds found here. The vessel has no TV, telephone, Internet, nightclub entertainment nor 24-hour drink and food service.
