Review of MS Joy

The 2016-built MS Joy cruise ship is a sistership to MS Grace, MS Savor, and MS Inspire. MS Joy operates exclusively on the Danube River.

The shipowner Scylla AG charters the vessel to the US cruise travel company Tauck Tours and also to VIVA Cruises, a Scylla-owned subsidiary and travel brand established in 2021.

The riverboat (ENI number 07002045) is currently Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057560) and registered in Basel.

Cabins

With a maximum capacity of 142 passengers, the 135-meter MS Joy offers 71 spacious cabins, including 24 Junior Suites, 22 Suites, 8 Loft Cabins, 4 Mini-Suites, and 13 Double Cabins.

All staterooms are equipped with a TV, safe, minibar, air conditioning, hairdryer, shower, and toilet.

Shipboard Facilities

The entrance hall features the Travel Desk, Reception, and a stylish onboard shop. Aft on the Diamant Deck is Arthur’s Bar, which also serves as a secondary dining venue, complementing the main restaurant, Compass Rose, located on the Ruby Deck. Guests can also relax in the Panorama Bar Lounge. MS Joy is equipped with a modern wellness area and fitness room, as well as an onboard hair salon. An elevator connects all three passenger decks for convenient access throughout the ship.

The vessel’s construction (hull and superstructure) was completed at the Vahali Shipyard in Belgrade, Serbia. The Dutch shipbuilding company Scheepswerf en Machinefabriek Vahali BV, founded in 1923, owns and operates shipyards in Serbia (Belgrade and Zasavica) and in the Netherlands (Gendt). Vahali Shipyard Zasavica officially opened in 2013. After construction in Serbia, the cruise ship was towed to the Netherlands for final outfitting at Scheepswerf Vahali in Gendt.
