Silja Symphony ferry Wiki
The ship was delivered to TALLINK on May 30, 1991 (several months behind schedule) and entered service on June 1.
The ship is powered by 4x Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 9R46, combined output 32.5 MW). The vessel's design features an interior promenade running the full length along the ship's central axis. This revolutionary concept allowed for more passenger cabins with windows overlooking the ship's interior.
During the drydock refit in 2011, Deck 13 was completely rebuilt. Silja Dream Theater/cinema, Club Bali (disco), and Chill Club Lounge were removed and replaced with the New York Club Lounge.
In January-February 2023, Silja Serenade (Jan 18-Feb 2) and Silja Symphony (Feb 2-16) both entered drydock (at Turku Repair Yard in Naantali) without a replacement ship on the Helsinki-Stockholm route during the docking period. The projects included technical upgrades, hull works, and propulsion system/bow thrusters maintenance (including the installation of EnergoProFin propeller hubs to improve fuel efficiency). Some public areas were also renovated, including the Sunflower Spa's shower rooms, the Commodore Lounge's sauna facilities, Deck 7's public restrooms, and the Executive Suite.
