Baltic Princess ferry Wiki

The ferry was specially designed for passenger and cargo transport on the Tallinn-Helsinki route. Since February 2013, it has been operating on the Turku–Aland–Stockholm route. The fleet mate Silja Europa was deployed on the TallinnHelsinki route. This was TALLINK's fourth cruise ferry. The vessel was ordered on December 19, 2005. Construction began on November 14, 2006 (keel-laying) at STX Europe’s Rauma Shipyard in Finland.

The ship was christened on March 6, 2008, in Helsinki (STX Finland), launched on March 9, delivered to TALLINK on July 10, and entered service on July 5, 2008. The vessel's forward section (hull and superstructure) was built at a French shipyard and then towed to a drydock in Helsinki, where construction was completed. The shipbuilding project was financed by a €132 million loan from a bank syndicate (HSH Nordbank, Nordea Bank, SEB Bank, and EIB).

The ship is powered by four Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 16V32), with a combined output of 32 MW. The propulsion system includes four bow thrusters with a combined output of 7.2 MW. The hull is ice-strengthened (ice class 1A Super), enabling year-round operations on Baltic Sea routes with severe ice conditions.

In 2020, the vessel's flag state and registry changed from Estonia (MMSI 276673000, Port of Tallinn) to Finland (MMSI 230639000, Port of Helsinki).
