Review of MS Royal Crown
MS Royal Crown operates on Danube River cruises exclusively, with itineraries offering departures from Vienna and Budapest. This elegant river cruise ship combines the charm of the 1930s with the comfort and service of a 4-star vessel. The riverboat is privately owned and chartered by various cruise companies, including Noble Caledonia, Hebridean Island Cruises, Voyages of Discovery.
MS Royal Crown features spacious teak decks, cosy public rooms and elegant staterooms with rosewood, marble and mahogany, together with specially designed furniture and rich fabrics, all blending together to create this unique riverboat.
Built in 1996, (originally named "River Cloud") and extensively refurbished in 2010, the 90-passenger Royal Crown was designed for sailing along the rivers flowing through Europe's heart. The expensive materials and exquisite furniture give the ship her unique atmosphere. Onboard facilities include a lounge with panoramic views, restaurant with open seating, library, boutique and fitness area. Breakfast is served buffet style, while lunch is a salad buffet with hot served choices. Dinner is a served 4-course meal. In addition, beer, house wine and soft drinks are included at both dinner and lunch.
Outside there is a lido bar, large sun deck, putting green and chessboard. The air-conditioning system ensures comfortable temperatures inside the ship. Two powerful engines propel ms Royal Crown up to a speed of 12 knots. During the voyage, guests have the opportunity to visit the officers and captain in the Bridge and learn more about navigating. No doctor is available onboard. Smoking is limited to ship's Sun deck.
