MS Royal Crown Review
Review of MS Royal Crown
The 1996-built MS Royal Crown cruises exclusively on the Danube River, with itineraries departing from homeports Vienna and Budapest. This elegant riverboat blends the charm of the 1930s with the comfort and service of a 4-star hotel.
The vessel (ENI number 07001647) is Switzerland-flagged (MMSI 269057786), registered in Basel, privately owned by Euro Shipping Voyages, and chartered to various cruise companies including Noble Caledonia.

MS Royal Crown features spacious teak decks, cosy public rooms, and elegant staterooms accented with rosewood, marble, and mahogany. Custom-designed furniture and rich fabrics complete the vessel’s refined interior.
Originally named “River Cloud,” the ship underwent an extensive drydock refurbishment in 2010. Premium materials and exquisite furnishings contribute to the vessel’s distinctive atmosphere. Onboard facilities include a bar lounge with large windows, an open-seating restaurant, library, boutique, and a wellness area (spa, fitness/gym, sauna, massage rooms). Breakfast is buffet-style, lunch features a salad buffet with hot served dishes, and dinner is a 4-course waiter-served service. Local beers, house wines, and soft drinks are complimentary at both lunch and dinner.

The Sun Deck includes the Lido Bar, a large sundeck with shaded seating, a putting green (mini-golf), and a giant chess set. The ship is fully air-conditioned, and during voyages passengers may visit the Wheelhouse and meet the Captain (officers on duty). The ship has no Infirmary (no resident medical facility). Smoking is permitted only on the Sun Deck.
